ENGLEWOOD, Colo. (AP) - The Denver Broncos have signed free agent running back Darius Walker.
Denver announced the deal on Friday.

Walker signed with the Houston Texans as a free agent in 2007 and played four games, rushing for 264 yards on 58 carries and catching 13 passes for 81 yards.

He dressed for five games with the Texans last season but did not play before joining St. Louis' practice squad for a week on Nov. 4. He rejoined Houston's practice squad on Nov. 25, finishing the season with the Texans.

They must be running the form of the wildcat formation where all 6 Ends and Backs are RBs.

Its fun paying below average runningbacks the vet minimum. Just ask Josh McDaniels....

Just had a thought....McDaniels might end up being the Jon Gruden of collecting runningbacks. Although I guess Josh wasnt afraid to draft one in the first round.

The reasoning is that we need about 20 on the roster for when 17 or so go on IR again this year.

so how long will it be before they sign Shaun Alexander and Edgerrin James?

Well, they have also let several go from last season and you need "bodies" to get though all of the camps and the preseason... they won't hit week 1 with 17 RBs on the roster. The next 4 months is all about finding the guys that fit best and entering week 1 with a healthy roster.

"Broncos now have eight running backs on their roster: Knowshon Moreno, Correll Buckhalter, J.J. Arrington, LaMont Jordan, Peyton Hillis, Ryan Torain, Walker and undrafted rookie Kestahn Moore."

Torain, Walker and Moore likely won't make through all the preseason games without getting hurt or being cut.

That leaves 5... and Arrington is likely more of a return option, but who knows.

Now they wont need to ever worry about having a QB. They can just run the ball 55 times a game with 10 different runningbacks. Its crazy, but it could work?

Whatever.. Moreno should very well be the lead guy, he's got a ton of talent and they'll have a capable group of RBs to fill in and do other things in the offense.

Curious... at this time, how many RBs are on KCs roster? Anyone know?

One more than yesterday. As I understand it, Tyson Jackson ate Turk McBride and now weighs 550 lbs. - but he actually gained speed, so the Chiefs are going to try him at tailback and see what he's got.

McDunce is quietly working on his new master strategy that will take Denver to the Super Bowl.

I'm suprised that Al Davis or Matt Millen hadn't already thought of it.

It's brilliancy is only surpassed by its sheer simplicity, really. CREATE A MONOPOLY - JUST CORNER THE MARKET ON RBs.

I think your franchise has used up it's "taking chances" quota for the decade.

Enh, not really a lot of chances there at RB... a few of those guys won't make it to the regular season, that's part of the game.

I am still pissed that Hillis got drafted by Denver. He was "stuck" behind McFadden and Jones at Arkansas yet still shined and got drafted in the 3rd.

He is a hell of a player that Denver would be stupid to let go. With all of those RB's he might just get axed.

I don't think there's a concern regarding Hillis... they love him.

Good, for Denver that is. He was having an awesome game against the Chiefs until he fell on his head ala Beebe style.

I enjoy watching good players, even when they are on a rival team. On a recruiting trip to Ark. a few years ago, Houston Nutt told us that their fullback had the best hands on the team. Wouldn't you know it, that fullback was Hillis.
