If you are considering suicide after yesterday's disappointing game and today's weak start, here's a nice article from the Onion Sports Network to brighten your day.

http://www.theonion.com/content/news_briefs/royals_unable_to_find

Royals Unable To Find Themselves In Standings

KANSAS CITY, MO—Players and executives with the 16-11 Royals filed a grievance with MLB officials Tuesday after they could not find themselves anywhere in the league's official standings. "We looked in all the usual places: third place, fourth place, even fifth place, and we didn't see our name anywhere," said Royals GM Dayton Moore, who added that he even peeked at the AL West standings to see if perhaps the team had been moved to a different division. "I could have sworn we'd been playing really well this year. Why would Commissioner Selig try to hide us? Did we do something wrong? Let me see that paper again." Moore explained that he and everyone in the front office were "very curious" to see Kansas City's other baseball team, which is currently in first place.

Jacobs on a first, with a bloop, looping hit to shallow CF. Jacobs went half way and held, and then had a mental breakdown and forgot what to do. By the time he saw it was a single and started to run, Hunter nailed him at 2nd.

Jacobs went halfway on a flyball that Hall Of Famer Torii Hunter has robbed hundreds of basehits from people. Hunter catches it on a bounce fires out the below average jacobs (who incidently is a farmer and having trouble running with that plow behind him). Jacobs looks like a dick because he didn't want to get doubled up if Torii catches it and fires back at first.

Ya, it didnt sound like a horrible running play by Jacobs, he was in a tough situation. Shallow fly to center, looks catchable. If he makes a highlight catch, Jacobs didnt want to be doubled off, and we'd be screaming at him for that. Since it was shallow, if he doesnt make the catch he could get thrown out at second with his lack of speed.

he is going to be aggressive, which i don't always agree with too much risk/reward, but I atleast understand what he is trying for. People blowing a gasket at jacobs should hold off until we drop a routine pop out or throw the ball into the stands because we forgot how many outs there are.

Crisp is taking a silly number of walks this year. Even though he is only hitting about .240, he somehow manages to have a .360 OBP. On top of that, he's fast and can steal bases. If you had to look up "leadoff hitter" in a dictionary, thats about what you'd find. DDJ needs to be sent tumbling down the order until he figures it out.

I know a lot of people think batting order makes a difference to how a hitter performs. I dont, at all. You base your batting order around what the players can and are doing, the batting order itself doesnt impact the player.

I know a lot of people think batting order makes a difference to how a hitter performs. I dont, at all. You base your batting order around what the players can and are doing, the batting order itself doesnt impact the player.

Yep. And I knew this would be our point of disagreement.

It's the mental approach for the players.

The two pieces of the first part of your statement are mutually exclusive. You can't be one of the best SS in MLB and boot routine plays. I'll take a guy who makes ALL the routine plays and only a few spectacular ones any day of the week. HAVE to be consistent in the field.

This is true. I still feel so bad for Greinke. We couldn't even get him 2 runs. I mean, if knowing you only need 2 runs to win the game can't motivate your offense, I don't know what does?
Saunders was p. good, though. That happens sometimes.

I think our bats are tired. The road trip is tough after playing 2 weeks without a break. How else is it possible to explain that the Angles are threatening to sweep with only 6 runs in the series.

I think we are just lacking the patience we had during our winning streak. Teahen swinging at the first pitch there was a good example. 2 outs and the pitcher has thrown 5 pitches....you have to take a couple there. If anything to give Davies a little breather.

luck, simple as that. This isn't like the NFL, this is a chaotic game where the best team in baseball would probably lose to the absolute worst team in baseball about 1/3 of the time. Its why you really need a ton of games in a season for the deserving teams to emerge, and why the divisional series is arguably too short at 5 games.

No matter what happens...in the long run....what matters is that Meche,Greinke, and Davies all pitched very well
Posted via Mobile DeviceWe should be sweeping this series. :spock:

Saunders was p. good, though. That happens sometimes.

We had our leadoff runner on 4 consecutive innings. We had plenty of chances to score. It was a combo of bad hitting, bad baserunning, bad coaching and bad luck.

Well they didn't "know" that going in and sometimes the opposing pitcher just wins. Other pitchers on other teams pitch well too.

shut up pete.

why? That was a fat pitch right down the middle. It was the sort of pitch you have to swing at even if its the first pitch. Whats the value in taking strike one right down the middle?

True. Just pointing out that in the long run if they get the solid pitching they will be ok.

The last time he had a long break the wheels almost came off.

Again, why do these dummies play so deep?

That ball died pretty quick...and he was playing deep....I won't fault him on that one

I'd say Crisp has roughly as good a chance of making a play, starting from CF, in RF as Guillen does starting from RF.

2 run lead in the bottom of the 7th? You want to keep everything in front of you.......granted Maier probably makes the catch
