My PC is completely silent. It doesn't even need the fan, technically.

Is it a heatsink or a small nuclear warhead, and lol on the 300 reference although you should've capitalized all the words imo.

Honestly, unless there's solid pipes running up the middle of that thing, it isn't going to dissipate heat that well because it will concentrate temp in the inner fins without ever reaching the outer fins.

It has copper pipes, baby. Big, thick, studly, massive copper pipes. Like the veins on my penis.

EVGA

It was the most expensive component in this build, but it's given me zero problems on two different motherboards with two different CPUs. It's also runs everything I've thrown at it beautifully so I've been very happy with the purchase. Hell, I play Fallout 3 at 1920x1080...

I just wish it had an HDMI connector. Though I hear most LCDs will take DVI these days...

Is it the 320/640 architecture or the 256/512 architecture? I've heard that the 256MB outperforms the 320MB (and the 512 over the 640) because of the way the memory channels are designed or something. I don't have any complaints with mine though, it's an OC monster - MSI overclocks it to 575Mhz out of the box and I'm running it at 640.

320 I guess.

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814130082

I should have waited for the slightly beefier version to get the most bang for my buck but I'm not really complaining. I bought the card mostly so I would have something that would give me long-term value. I've never even played the most graphically-demanding stuff like Crysis, for instance, though I will when THIS (http://www.moddb.com/mods/lost-world-returns) mod finally is finished. Hoping it doesn't choke my system.

Interestingly enough, when I was running a 4300 C2D instead of a 6700 C2D, the CPU was a HUGE bottleneck.

Yep, that's the same chipset I have. You could probably get quite a bit more out of that (if you're not overclocking already). It runs at 500mhz core, 800Mhz DDR2 by default. I'm running mine at 640/940 and have never had any issues.

The thing is already running hot. It's the hottest thing in my machine. I'm scared to overclock for fear that it might melt a hole in the motherboard.

How hot does yours run?

In the upper 60's Celsius when I'm playing RTW. I've got a 250mm fan blowing IN pretty much directly on it though.

It doesn't help that the fan for your CPU heatsink is blowing right on it. Have you thought about modifying that so that it blows out the back?

Also, you might try bumping it to see what the temps are. I never baselined mine, so I don't know what "normal" temps are.

Yeah that's true. I may give the fan thing a try.

I can't tell 100% by looking at it, but the fan mount may be universal, allowing you to just clip it onto the other side of the heatsink.

At least it's easily remedied. :)

I've got a 250mm variable fan in the side (came with my case) blowing in, a 120mm in the front blowing in, and a 120mm high-CFM Thermaltake in the back pulling out. Plus I have a Zalman 9500CNPS on my CPU.

I actually have OC's in the HoF over at the MSI user forum.

My latest video card came with the IceQ cooling system, and I haven't been able to get it over 60C no matter what I'm running. It runs at 750Mhz core, 2000Mhz mem out of the box, and it's overclocked to over 1000Mhz core and still stays cool. I have 2 large case fans pulling air through the case though, so that helps...

If you move your CPU fan to blow out the case, it would help a bunch...

Nice.... how quiet is it?

Both of them are variable but I unhooked the switches so they run at max RPM. Plus I have a 120mm ~75CFM in the front and a high performance 120mm ~95CFM in the back.

So the correct question is "how loud is it?" :D

It's louder than the microwave.

He he... I've never had anything more than the 120mm fans, but I've been curious how bad the mower blade version was...

Being very hard of hearing, it's never been much of a concern for me. Stable Temp >>>> Noise for me.

The 250mm really isn't that loud, it's not high-CFM so much as it's just big. The one in the back is REALLY loud. The PC is loud enough that you can't hear the DVD drive spin up.

Not sure why but this is cool.

I have a HAF 922 and a Cooler Master Hyper 212 cooler.

2 intake fans (120 mm & 140 mm) and 2 exhaust fans (120 & 140).

Up until today I had a skinny 5770 in it and the average temp was around 35 Celsius.

I put in a 6870, which supposedly creates more heat (and definitely restricts airflow) and its now down to 32 Celsius.

Also I can't believe this is a thread.

What do you have it overclocked to? And why in the name of god do you have an external fan on a power supply??
