It sucks that Soria is on DL, but it's about freaking time they gave Ponson's spot to Hochevar.

Finally, the Royals have the rotation that they should have from day 1.

Soria needs to get healthy, quickly, though. The bullpen is markedly worse without him holding down the ninth.

Penz makes a great point: Coincidence that Soria's injury is pushed over the top not too long after he was asked to come in during the 8th?

Hillman and Moore ruining yet another pitcher.

"An anonymous Royals source told me that the Royals say there is nothing medically/structurally wrong" with Soria's arm.

Let's get him to the DL, healed and back by June 1.

The only drawback of the Royals being good is it has forced me to tune in to local radio. For the last three years I didn't have to listen to pregame or postgame. Turned on the game, they'd lose, and I'd turn off the radio.

That sounds like what the Jays had to deal with when they signed AJ Burnett. There was nothing structurally wrong with his arm, but he kept complaining about the pain, and they were forced to DL him for months in 2 separate seasons (until he conveniently became healthy during his contract season in '08).

I would hope Demonpenz was slipping in a little sarcasm....but to correct what he was saying:

"Thanks for MISUSING him Trey, your pitching management is brilliantly incoherent."

Outside of not pulling Grienke, Hillman has been suspect at best with his use of the bullpen. I wouldn't be surprised at all if this was a response to his nearly 2 weeks of bench time he just came off of. Trey should have thrown him in at least 1 of those 7-8 games he sat him through. Instead he threw Farnsworth, and well...we lost.

Apparently we're doomed to start losing if we can't get some runs though, we're in serious trouble if our rotation has to pitch shutouts or lose.

For anyone who decides to pivot and argue that Soria is hurt because he was under-used, I'll pre-emptively point out that this argument is also silly/stupid. You dont get hurt from lack of use, and if someone really does need to get some work but cant get in during the game, then they throw simulated innings in a bullpen session.

What, you think that if they dont come into the game for a week, then that means they were sitting on the club couch eating cheetos?

Soria wasnt used for a long stretch precisely because of injury concerns, and aside from opening day and at least one of the other Farnsworth losses, Hillman's use of the bullpen wasn't bad at all.

If you want to blame someone or something for Soria getting hurt, blame team Mexico for screwing him up. He missed most of spring training to pitch for them.

DeezNutz
05-10-2009, 09:53 PM
If the wall had been in place earlier, Mexico wouldn't have been able to hurt Soria.

this is true, they actually have him run the same distance from the bullpen to the mound ona treadmill and have a boom box play welcome to the jungle while the bullpen coaches hold up their blackberry's with fire themed wall paper and shake them around to further simulate the pitching

yet another demonstration of the incompetence of trey hillman and the royals organization. 99 out of 100 baseball fans could have told you in march that brian bannister and luke hochevar are better than horacio ramirez and sidney ponson. i don't know why the royals were the only ones who couldn't figure that out.

Hochevar will not qualify for FA a year early. Team kept him down long enough.
