As some of you know, I left the internet football journalism world and returned to public service and "gubbment." Today, I was laid off due to budget issues.

That sucks. It sounds like folks in your town are pissed about it too. From what I've read you'll land on your feet pretty quickly I think.

Dude that fucking blows. I know this was your passion and you were damn good at your job. If the parks and rec job got cut in my hometown, it wouldn't even be a blip in the free newspaper circulated. It says a lot about you that the newspapers singled you out as a driving force and hard worker in the community.

You will land on your feet quickly.

If you need to vent, chat, anything, shoot me an e-mail or call.

I'm sure political bullshit is just what this thread needed.

You need to take enough meds to choke yourself on.

Sorry to hear about it. But that was a nice write up. Some people probably go through their jobs and do as little as possible and sneak by for 30 years. I don't know if that will just piss you off more or make you glad you actually did something worthwhile and beneficial to your community, but I had to say. I wish you the best.

I miss read the title and thought it meant getting laid only because your rich sucks. But anyways, I'm sorry. I lost my job last summer but it worked out pretty well for me. Hope it works for you too!

Dude that blows, sorry to hear this. But from the sound of your accomplishments, I'm sure you'll land on your feet soon.

I'm with Skip, so glad I have never really had to face a layoff.

That does suck bro, but can we say just sucks and not Royally sucks? The Royals are going to the playoffs this season.

I know what you mean.

I was laid off from the house of Windsor. Turns out that I was an earl who was no longer necessary. It sucks royally to be laid off of royalty.

Man, that sucks dude. However, you should be proud of the work you have done. You must've been doing something right to draw that kind of reaction in the comments of the 85239 article.

Good luck on finding something else. As has been said, I doubt it takes you long to find something new.

A lot of cities are struggling with budgets right now, guess they were just a little too quick to spend all the money they were making on the housing. Sorry to hear this affected you Marty, I'll keep my fingers crossed for you to land into something else quickly. Good luck!

Yeah no doubt. You've obviously made an impact on that city. I'm sorry for your misfortune and can only hope it gets better.

I would be using those comments on any resume.

I was laid off a mere 8 months ago.

I'm contemplating leaving the country and moving to Australia.

I agree, it was one of the most traumatic and disorienting things I'd endured at the time. But it ended up being one of the biggest unwanted blessing I ever got.

Keep your eyes, ears, and heart open and it might end up that way for you as well.

You'll find something. It gets harder to deal with it as the time goes on though.
