The giant shark thread on main page got me to thinking about the days of my youth spent at the drive-in watching some really bad movies.

So what do you got.

My first entry

Youtube is blocked by firewall so can't see if they been mentioned:

Dawn of the Dead
Evil Dead
The Crazies
The Serpent and the Rainbow

All still worth watching on slow night if you haven't seen them, especially Serpent and the Rainbow.

I wouldn't consider Serpent and the Rainbow to be a B movie.

A couple of favorites, however, that I would definitely consider to be B movies:

Reanimator
Sword and the Sorcerer

Couple of my fave bad movies from my childhood:

Alligator
Flash Gordon
The Stepfather
Death Race 2000
Escape from New York
Galaxy of Terror
Every 70's and 80's Chuck Norris flick

and probably a million more...

Are B movies direct-to-video movies? You say you saw these in the theater, though. Were they big releases then? What's the deal?

My girlfriend will usually get a direct-to-video at the store over something good because it either has pink somewhere on the box cover or the title has some catchy word.

The only one I can remember is The Pin-Up Girl. It was a baseball movie, kind of. Like the one with Freddy Prinze Jr. and Jessica Biel.

B movies of today are typically direct to DVD.

Back in the 60,s 70's and 80's they would play at drive-ins or regular theaters.

It makes it harder to tell these days with the direct to DVD movies since some look the same as you would see in theaters, have a cast you recognize and might be better than some stuff that makes a theatrical release. Indy flicks made on the cheap make the B movie definition even more difficult to define.

Though you still know it when you see it. Any recent Seagal flick is a good example.
