Well you look at his AB vs. AC's....

As Frank White said, AC just stayed back on his pitch and because he did that he was able to lunge out and poke a pitch away to the opposite field.

Avilles is so far up in the box he can't stay back on a pitch. That coupled with his bucket stepping means he is rarely going to get good wood on a pitch away.

BTW, I asked this question last night, but I am interested in knowing the answer, or how to find the answer.

What is the difference in team ERA when Olivo and Buck catch respectively. Perhaps it is just me, but it seems like the better pitching performances occur when we have Olivo making the calls. I think this is true even if you remove Grienke from consideration.

I'm not sure but someone wrote into Petro today and said that Buck never calls an inside game. Everything is always down and away with him. Not sure how true that is but if it is indeed true, there is something to be said for that.

Our team just isn't playing like they want it. I mean we had a golden chance to really separate ourselves but to drop 4 and now probably 5 in a row the way we are dropping them is not what I would expect out of a hungry team. Last night was a fluke and those things happen. But games like tonight are indicative of a team that might as well be last year's team.

Dude, no one disagrees with you.

It's just that it will be almost impossible to get this via trade without giving up a king's ransom. We're talking Hosmer or Moosetacos and a combination of other top prospects.

No way. No how. No thanks.

Possibly.

But I truly believe that much also stems from not having a star. We desperately need our own horse--a KC version of Longoria, Pujols, etc.--that can carry a team in a 2-1 game like this.

We have a lot of nice, ML players, which is certainly an upgrade from years past. Even still, it's damn hard to win with only "nice" talent.
