View Full Version : Nat'l Security Colin Powell as the defacto head of the Republican party...

Going to be a lot of talk in this direction in the coming days, ignited by Rush Limbaugh essentially nominating him.

Don't read the story, but listen to the Limbaugh clip in the middle of it:
http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2009/05/20/limbaugh-resigning-as-the_n_205878.html

For my part, I don't think Rush was ever the head of the Republican party. But I'm intrigued by his move here. Colin Powell would give Obama a run for his money in 2012.

Someone finally beat Limbaugh down. Limbaugh knew that if he remained the "defacto" leader, the Party would be doomed.

I agree that he was being sarcastic. But it was like a subliminal message. He was being sarcastic, but he still said it. It is an attempt by him to try and have it both ways. He'll say that the liberal media is lying when they say he is the leader, but then can say to his fans like yourself, that he was being sarcastic.

But he doesn't.

He might have gotten his job due to Republican affirmative action on top of that.

when the republican party puts forth conservatives who go into office and act conservative, they do fine. the problem with the last two cycles has been that they got into office and acted like democrats.

the reason why they were voted out was because the economy tanked... partially out of their control, but partially because they were going along with the democrats spending like drunken sailors for the last decade.

purge the party of these morons. if you lose another cycle (which won't happen anyway), then whatever. conservative positions win out when they are presented credibly. once the party is conservative again it will be back.

Colin Powell is a great example as to why the Republican Party is such a mess. Here stands (potentially) the "face" of the party. He's not a true conservative, does not share the true conservative values, sides with much of what the Liberal party is shoveling - yet, he's the new face. Until we get back to the true Conservative Movement, with a candidate that will stop pandering to the left, we shall continue to be a party short on consistent ideas and long on ineptitude.
