Ok, I HATE previous PALM pdas but I am thinking of getting one of these. It looks like a significant departure from past models and possibly a G1/Iphone competitor.

Does anyone know anything about them yet? (release date is early June)

The only thing I can find that I DON'T like about it is no SD card slot. Stuck with 8gb internal memory... but I doubt that will be an issue.

I have a techie friend that has an iPhone and he plans on switching to the Palm Pre. He likes the idea of open app development.

If it's all it's cracked up to be I'll move to Spring and buy it. Their plans are priced to move and blow away what I have with Verizon.

I heard about the Pre for the first time on NPR this morning. It was touted as having an a more advanced (intuitive) interface than anything on the market.

Cnet likes it. I believe it was their best in show at CES.

Since the Pre received such great reviews at the CES, Palm's stock has gone from $2-3 a share to $10. They used to be a $100 stock. The Pre may save Palm.

I've been pretty damn happy with my Centro. Not sure I can do without a real keyboard though..

I've been following the Pre for some time. I'm definitely getting it on June 6th. I'm a little disturbed that there isn't an expansion memory card slot. That seems to be the only real downside. I've gotten by on 8GB with my Palm 750, so I'm not too worried about it. But I was hoping for a 32 GB upgrade.

I just got one of these and it is working excellently.

Then again, I don't have the option of an I-phone out here.

I'd love to upgrade to that one. I've got the previous model and love everything about it, but it's just a bit too bulky.

The lack of an SD slot is about the only complaint I have, I'm hoping to pick one up as soon as I can.

The Palm Pre looks really, really nice. And I own an iPhone. Here's what I told my brother-in-law:

The Pre looks really slick. Will I dump my iPhone for it? Probably not. However, if I didn't already have an iPhone and were trying to decide between the Pre and an iPhone, it would be a really, really tough call. And I love my iPhone.

Since I just got my Blackberry about 4-5 months ago.....I'll have to wait to get a new phone.

I take it that this is bad???Yes. It uses signals from cell towers to determine location. So you have to be where there is cell service and you also have to pay for the feature to be active.

A true gps uses the GPS satellite system and works virtually everywhere and is much more accurate.

Wow. I had no clue this phone was this good. I'll have to research it some more. I really never considered dumping my Instinct because I'm happy with it, but if it's all it's cracked up to be, I'll be switching yet again.
