Daniel Hannan is a member of Parliment and has observed where the Brits are and where it seems Obama is taking the US. The guy is fun to listen to and pulls no punches. In his most recent interview with Hannity, he said a lot of things but one part was the most telling to me.

Our lefties continue to ignore the facts on nationalized business, nationalized banking, and nationalized health care. Hannans comments below underscore why we should be afraid of the Obama led left and their will to ignore the very reason the US is a great country and thier interest in reducing us to a bit player who will be broke and incapable of leading anything. Every American needs to fear government gone out of control.

"Last time I got on this show, I got into huge trouble with everyone attacking me for cautioning you against a British health care model. You guys are going to have to decide that. All I would say is this. Your country is great and prosperous and free because government is constrained and because the visionaries who wrote your constitution who knew what they were doing when they drafted that document and who understood where unconstrained government leads because they fought against it. They created a system of checks and balances that would keep the state small and the citizen big.

Now if you start going down this road towards a more European welfare model and more European health care model, more public spending, more spending on education, being nicer in your foreign policy, all of those things, you make your country less American. You make it more like everywhere else. And that isn't going to make people like you anymore, it's going to make them respect you less.

The reason that your country is respected and honored in the world is precisely because it's been as your founders understood it, it's been the city on the hill. It's shown us how by adopting a model based on personal freedom and the decentralization of power based on Jeffersonian democracy and disbursed decision making, how you can make people prosperous and successful and strong. And the world owes you a debt. Because the vision of your constitution didn't just keep you free, it inspired your fathers to take that freedom to other continents as well."

American capitalism gone with a whimper

You know we're in serious trouble when a Pravda article takes America to task for adopting Marxism. And to have Putin warn America not to go the Marxist route too.

Hannan's working in the wrong country. He should be running the Republican party.

Only they need to purge it of their moderate socialists first.

Can't wait for critics to call him a fringe lunatic just because he's surrounded by people in the Euro parliament who don't think like him.

That's the key to government, right? Have everybody on the same page?

That's how those entrenched in power get rid of their opposition and their ideas.

Hey guys, this is what we signed up for. Our election process created the current situation and we've got to deal with it. If there's only a handful of us that don't like it then we're not going to change anything -- no matter how much better we think our way of doing things would be. Just gotta let this one play out.

Our lefties continue to ignore the facts on nationalized business, nationalized banking, and nationalized health care.

That's because they are as human as the rest of us and believe they can do it better. It is the old "it won't happen to me" syndrome that is part of our humanity.

It's pretty cool to hear a foreigner say this. There are so many people in the US that think that we suck, and the whole world hates us because we suck.

We lost the Cold War at the level of ideas.
