Didn't have a family of 5, but having to move 3 different locations within a 5 year period does suck.

Thankfully the moving thing will be done for awhile now that the wife and I live in a house.

Really though, it wasn't that bad for us, since we had at least like 15-20 people helping us move, so that made it much easier.

I say that every freakin' time and never go through with it. We'll be moving in the next two years or so when we decide to finally start building our house - but I'm definitely not interested in moving our family of 6.

I agree. We just moved into our new house back in January. The REALLY bad part was we sold our old house and had to be out in October. Nothing like moving a family of 5 TWO freaking times in 4 months.

Never again.

What happened to "many hands make light work"? I thought these larger families would make the move easier? Unless you've got infant triplets, then I could see how the bulk (all) of the work would fall on your shoulders.

Crack the whip, you'll be moved (or insane) in no time.

I don't mind moving. It's the packing and unpacking that I hate with a fiery passion.

Live in California.

Last time we moved.....I went down to the local Home Depot and picked me up some movers. 3 hours of work....$60.00 a piece....plus food.

Yes, moving totally blows.

We moved 4 years ago, and hopefully won't again for quite some time.

Moving in town and moving cross country are two different animals. For me the last time was 1999 from Flagstaff to Austin for a family of 5 (with 3 cats, that's always fun). Now we have one out of the house with another about to leave. We have no plans to move until the kids are grown, if then.

I'd rather eat nails than move. If my house burns down around me then I'll live in the rubble.

Try moving in a blizzard. I highly recommend avoiding it if at all possible.

Na, I first moved to Denver back in December 06. You may recall my getting stuck at my in-laws for 4 days because we couldn't get to our new place.

Ah. I do remember that now. But I seem to recall you recently purchased a home, and was curious if that was the one.

Nope. We moved the second weekend in April, so the weather was about like it is today. A few sprinkles, but that's about it.

ROFL...did you move recently? Or is your "blizzard" experience something in the distant past?

Yes, we moved during the blizzard at the end of March.

I close on June 8 and have until July 1 to be out of my apartment. That will be three places in three years. Luckily, this is my first house (*YEESSSSSS*), and I feel it will be a much longer stay there.

I'm torn; I could take one day and reluctantly move everything, hating every hour I'm there... or, I could engage in a much more convenient, yet time consuming, process of moving over the course of three weeks.

I'm hate the first idea, but think it would be sooo much better than the latter.

I helped my SIL move in July in central Texas. I am quite sure it hit 100 that afternoon and the inside of the truck was much, much hotter. I am a skinny guy and I think I lost 20 pounds that day.

When we moved across town from the parsonage to our own house it wasn't bad 'cause you could spread it out a little. Moving to a different town/state is much worse IMO.

Luckily for us, the last move involved several people from the church we are at now bringing a semi truck and trailer up and helping us load up. Since the truck was thiers, it didn't cost anything. I must say, it's much easier to cram the belongings of a family of 5 into a 48' semi trailer than it is to get the junk in a 27' U-haul.:)

I've moved six times since 1996...all job-related. My children sometimes suspect that I am secretly working for the Army....

I am lucky with all my moves...company paid for everything.

I thought the same thing, but now I'm in the process of buying my 3rd house in 8 years.

It is well spent money. During the week and the middle of the month, it is cheaper.
