My FIL gave in to lung cancer this morning around 5 a.m. and I just wanted to have a little something to remember him by so I'm starting this thread to say,"Carl, you were always good to me and after 23 years of being a great dad I tip my hat and raise my glass in a toast,RIP guy,I love ya." :toast:"

That sucks, Joe. Prayers for you and your wife and family. I know how you guys are feeling now. But at least his suffering is over. My dad struggled for years with hardly being able to breath. It is sad for us but at least he is in a better place now.

Condolensces, and a bit of jealousy. By the time I met my in-laws, they were both in a nursing home in Iowa. Strokes had rendered my FIL speechless, and my MIL suffered from dementia. With my MIL, she had one 15-minute moment of clarity where we had a real serious, deep conversation, and that was it, but that moment was a miracle. She died a week before my oldest daughter was born. My wife was too close to the due date to attend the funeral.

Hang in there.

Alot of that going around.

My grandpa passed away today after a bout with brain cancer.
He lived through the depression, polio, a trip from the beaches of France to the occupation of Germany as a medic, returned home to work as a farmer and become patriarch of a large, productive family that now includes 79 grand and great grandchildren, 3 in the service now. I suppose its fitting that he left on Memorial day weekend.f

Happy Trails, grandpa.

This is the 3rd grandparent taken by cancer. Someday, I'm going to punch cancer in the face and kick it in the nuts.

Your grandfather sounds like a hell of a man. I never knew my grandparents, but I would have loved to have had a grandfather like that.

You're in our thoughts tonight, Mr. Iowanian. Here's to your grandfather having already arrived in a place of perfect peace and happiness. It sounds like he deserves it.

PS. I am with you 100 percent on the cancer deal. I despise that sh*t with every fiber of my being. I never knew I could feel such hatred, but I do.

Hey all Mrs Nzoner and I just wanted to say thank you so very much for the thoughts and prayers. The service was today in Paola,Kansas and it was very well attended and overall a beautiful farewell.

Mrs Nzoner is doing good and has been surrounded by friends and family and is planning on keeping busy with a concert this weekend and a NASCAR trip next week, just the way her dad would have wanted it.

Thanks again.
