I'm not exactly sure how they are supposed to be used. If you've ever gone to the restroom in Docking State Office Building, I'm sure you know exactly what I am talking about.

The look more like bidets than urinals...and then they have this footlong "trough" that extends out from the "bowl." I'm not exactly sure if you are supposed to straddle the trough thing and pee in the primary bowl. Perhaps it is designed (by &) for 1970s era pornstars. Maybe the trough was put in place as a line of demarcation with the idea that hippies would have group pees at the bowl, you know--in grade school little boys would have "sword fights"--could it be that it was still a popular and socially acceptable thing for adults to do when these urinals were installed?

I don't think I'm alone in my intimidation. I have quite a few meetings in Docking so I use the restroom on occasion, and I have never seen or heard of anyone actually using the urinals there before. I've given it the old college try a few times just out of curiosity. Maybe the trough is like a landing strip for when the pee stream dies down.

Anyway, they are the weirdest urinals I have ever seen.

I think I've seen urinals like the ones you're talking about. I always thought they were weird but hypothesized that the "trough" was a drip catcher. I know I don't envy whoever has to mop up the nastiness under most normal urinals at the end of the day.

Maybe I should check the sign on the door. While looking for an image on the net to describe these urinals, I found out that they are apparently women's urinals. The troughs on the urinals in Docking are thinner, but otherwise, they look pretty similar.

According to the instructions, I was using them wrong....

I'd be willing to bet dollars to donuts that my freakin' mother in law had them installed.

The area around the urinals in Docking are always immaculate.

So they expect women to stand while peeing now too? :spock:

Ew! That's just weird. I thought I should come over from Patriots Planet and say hello. What better way to do that than post on a thread about toilets?

That could explain why you've never heard or seen a man using one.

I thought I knew what you were talking about till I saw the pics. My office building has actual mens urinals that stick out about as far as those pictured. Its wide all the way down to the front though you couldn't straddle these unless you were about 7' or had a step. Still a very strange urinal design that results in a lot of water usage and renders the standard size dividers useless since you're standing about 6 inches away from the edge of it. I really hate "childs" lowered version of it because its so low you get a lot of splashing. Maybe I'm supposed to wash my feet in that one?!?

Been there many a time, walk by it every day, never thought to go check out the bathroom. I'm going to have to see this for myself.
