When my daughter was born 25 years ago, she had to be transported to Tarzana for treatment of health issues.
We didn't get to bring her home for 4 weeks.

But she grew into a healthy happy baby girl ,and into a beautiful young lady.

It's both scary and exciting.

Good luck.

Update time! PBJ

Well, after alot of breathing, screaming pushing and suffering I finally made to the bedside of Joie in time for the birth. The baby made her grand entrance @ 10:15 last night. Upon inspection it was determined that she heart murmur. :doh!:However, after post race inspection...err...I mean, after post delivery inspection the Dr. said that he didn't hear anything to be worried about. http://www.mysmiley.net/imgs/smile/party/party0010.gif (http://www.mysmiley.net/freesmiley.php?smiley=party/party0010.gif) She had problems breathing on her own so she ended up under a little dome that supplied oxygen. However, the dome has been removed and she is breathing just fine now. http://www.mysmiley.net/imgs/smile/party/party0024.gif (http://www.mysmiley.net/freesmiley.php?smiley=party/party0024.gif) Her blood pressure was a problem last night but has since corrected itself. All else is good so far. We are waiting to see if she can maintain her body temp and if she can start feeding on her own.

Trinity is doing wonderful. She's breathing on her own, loves the pacifier, and has gotten little tastes of the milk I've been able to pump for her. We're hoping to get to hold her tomorrow and she should be able to nurse in the next day or two.

Sorry, Gawd Damned Nebraskan, she decided to make her grand entrance on the 6th anniversary of the death of a close family friend's son. He had died in Iraq. She has a very special guardian angel watching over her...and will hopefully help our family friend continue healing.

Thank you everyone, for the good thoughts and prayers. Our daughter is beautiful and nothing short of amazing.

You may be right...she's already a tough cookie, and in utero anytime I would listen to music she would keep the beat with her kicks.

Thanks for the list...my Dad is going to love it. He's a huge fan of John Wayne and Gunsmoke.

My son spent a couple of days in the NICU when he was born. It seemed like a big deal at the time, but today, he's a happy, active 16-month-old.

He had some breathing issues due to getting "stuck" during delivery. They think it was caused by fluid in his lungs.

It was kind of weird seeing him in the NICU. All of the other babies were born prematurely and weighed like 5 lbs. or less. Then, there was my son who was a 10 lbs. monster in the NICU.

In short, the NICU seemed like a scary place at the time when my son was in there, but I later camed to realize that it isn't always a big deal.
