It's not large, but it's coming down like crazy. Completely out of the blue. I was just out jogging a couple of hours ago.

Rainy, but no hail or tornadoes up in Thornton.

Glad you didn't get caught out running in the hail!

They announced a tornado warning in western Adams County, Broomfield, and southern Weld County, but apparently the tornado outsmarted them and headed south.

With any luck, it'll take out Adams County's headquarters.

Ok JOhn, you keep that crap down there. I have already had one total tomatoe crop failure. I replanted and they are looking good, with several of them already kicking out product. I think I am going to get out one of my tarps for tonight. I may even fire up my Mr. heater for just to make sure they don't cash in the chips.

At this rate, it will be the end of August before the snow melts above Cooke. Just in time to start snowing for the winter again. :doh!:It will be a short ATVing season in that area.

Check the garden supply catalogs for a product called a "Wall 'o Water". It is a device used for getting an early start with young plants. They really work. I once started a tomato plant in February and it grew clear up over the roof of my house. (I picked off all the suckers). The newspaper came out and took pics of it.

I have use those in the past and they work well. I think I am goign to go all redneck tonight and build a fast tarp tent and fire up the Mr. Heater on low.

One reason I love New England: the conditions. Winter can be cold and snowy but it's nowhere near as bad as places like upstate New York or Minnesota. We have four great seasons, and rare natural disasters. An occasional hurricane, but rarely a mudslide, earthquake, wildfire, tornado, or the like. Tornadoes are awesome, and I'd love to chase one professionally, but I'd hate to live where they touch down all the time and I hate the damage they do to people and property...

We had a bunch of hail and wind this week too. Actually made us go into the bunker at work.

Weird weather this year. We got hail again yesterday for the second Saturday in a row, followed again by tornado warnings. My next-door neighbor actually saw a funnel cloud start to form over Denver, but then it went away. It sounds like your (DaFace's) neighborhood is getting more of the scary weather today, though.

You're in Tornaton? Sorry. Been good to know you. :(

On June 3, 1981, at 2:30 p.m. the worst tornado in the Denver
metro area’s history touched down in the City of Thornton,
just a few days before the City was to celebrate its silver anniversary.
