Last night wasn't Bale's fault though our defense went to crap when he came in.

petegz28

Everytime I see Hillman anymore I wish he was fired and Frank White given the job. I know there are reasons some don't want White as a coach. But I think the guy deserves a shot considering all the work he puts in with this team plus the fact the man knows baseball and will carry a lot of respect in the club house. For lack of a better comparison it would be similar to the Ozzie Guillen project in Chicago only Frank White has a little more class.

He actually got the groundball we needed for the DP to get us out of the inning with a 2 run lead intact......Pena made a wild throw to 1st and then AC backing up the throw threw wild to home. 2 errors on 1 play.

I just don't get it at all. He is sub-.200 against LHP. And so not only do you put him in the lineup, you put him in at #4. That is just putting dumb on top of stupid.

Frank White just laid it out......"just because you're batting 4th doesn't mean you're a #4 hitter". He wasn't talking about anyone specifically, just hitting in general...but

And Bloomy gets shot trying to steal 3rd. with 2 out and Butler at the plate....stupid

That's honestly one of the dumbest plays I've seen this season, and that's saying something. What exactly do you get from stealing 3rd there? 2 outs, so no sac fly. This guy is a control pitcher, so it's very unlikely you score on a wild pitch. Third out at 3rd with your best hitter up? Good lord, I think it's a requirement to take stupid pills to play for the Royals.

And it's amazing that it was Bloomquist who was the perpetrator.

There was absolutely no reason to steal there at all. None, nada, zilch, zero.

Crazy how the mojo shifts when a player gets thrown out trying to steal 3B with 2 outs...

Yep. I mean isn't it a little league based rule that says you don't want your 1st or 3rd outs at 3rd or home?

Yep. I mean isn't it a little league based rule that says you don't want your 1st or 3rd outs from runnning the bases? With the exception of stealing 1st.

Yeah, just little jabs at Hillman's ignorance. Large sample sizes don't matter, but what happens right now does? Yet he clearly looks at statistics because he speaks the language. Higher-leverage situations, for example.

I have to throw this out there...his last 2 games were with Olivo catching, I do believe. I also believe that most of his other games were Buck catching. Best thing about this game is that I'm actually seeing the "stuff" that Dayton and co. have claimed Hochever has. Watching a couple of his starts early, I just didn't even see the stuff to consistently get guys out. He's pounding the strike zone with that sinker, and mixing in his breaking stuff and keeping those down as well (except Gomes HR).

Entirely possible. White has talked a lot this year about most of the pitchers' hesitancy to throw inside, save Greinke, of course. Zack actually has a bit of a nasty streak that our other pitchers would do well to acquire.

Allard Baird rejoices!!

Why?

Hochevar was Moore's pick. I don't want to hear about the "ghost."

Bob Tewksbury had 2 sub 80 CG's in one season? Impressive.

Edit-within about 3 starts of each other.

What did the Mets do?

The Mets had a one run lead in the 9th with two outs. Arod pops it up....and Luis Castillo drops it right out of his glove. The Yankees score two-runs and win.

Only the Mets....

Great to see this kind of success with that sinker....

I hope this is a start of quality starts most the way. I never thought Hochevar would pitch past the 6th inn this year honestly

to be honest I think there was a certain amount of fortune that the Reds are not hitting good. He threw a lot of meatballs I thought. But I'd rather be lucky than good. He still needs to improve on the breaking ball and staying out of the middle of the plate.

Anything to help his confidence, because he seems to be doing well in AAA, but finally a decent start or two, i'll take it. I hope he improves his stuff and gets an out pitch.

Entirely possible. White has talked a lot this year about most of the pitchers' hesitancy to throw inside, save Greinke, of course. Zack actually has a bit of a nasty streak that our other pitchers would do well to acquire.Meche isn't afraid to play a little chin music. Maybe he just isn't mean enough.

The entire NL Central sort of died at the same time. St. Louis has lost 7 of its last 10, including tonight, yet is still only a game and a half out.

had voice\throat issues the last few days

Now that the team's home they need to make Ryan stay away a few days and recover. Surely theu can find somebody local to fill in on play-by-play. Besides has he had himself checked to make sure he has is not contagious. The announcers are around the team a lot. you'd think Dayton would not want him around the team giving them what he has.

Wow!

If I someone had told me that a team had been beaten with 80 pitches and a complete game, I would have guessed it was done to us.

An 80-pitch complete game is preposterous. Can only hope that this, coupled with his last start at Toronto, will catapult him into a hot streak.
