Great...

Their Defense is going to be stout again...

Hopefully this year we get another case of "JaMarcus being JaMarcus"

He wasn't going to make or break our team.

No 1 player will make or break this team, but he certainly could've contributed.

Pioli has certainly decided that this is going to be an evaluation, transition year. The coaches get to install their schemes and get to know the players. The players get to learn a new mentality and new schemes.

No use in bringing in any significant free agents when you are just tearing shit apart and rebuilding it.

It irritating as hell but understandable, i guess.

Everyone thought Gabril Wilson, and DeAngelo Hall could play too. I didn't click the link, $50 million guaranteed for 3 seasons? God bless you Al Davis. May you live to 160.

ROFL.

Reminded me of Leonidas telling the cripple, "May you live forever".

He's not 36, he's 33 years old. That's a big difference in football age.

He had 8 sacks last year and 12.5 the year before.

I'd be surprised if he doesn't help the Raiders. With Ellis and Derrick Burgess (not to mention Asomugha), they could be a formidable defense.

John Marshall, Oakland Raiders
Like predecessor Rob Ryan, Marshall garners widespread respect. “They may be the surprise of that division, for what they have personnel-wise,” said one observer.

Took this from a yahoo story on the new 19 D coordinators in the NFL this season.

Don't worry, they still have Jamarcus Russell and Al Davis.

I was kind of hoping that we would pick him up. It would make our LBs that much older...but at least we'd have a player who has repeatedly put up sacks.

(not to mention Asomugha)

Side note: Just wanna remind everyone of way back in '03 when Mel Kyper wuz freakin' out over Al Davis picking Nnamdi Asomugha in the 1st round. "I had Asomugha going in the seventh round! Some scouts had him as an UFA! That's insanity to pick Nnamdi Freakin' Asomugha in the 1st round!"

Just removing credit where credit-removal is due.....

The bad news is that Ellis is a decent pass rusher. The good news is that Al Da vis is going to move him to wide receiver.

I agree, I was hoping the Chiefs would pick him up... and let Vrabel go since he doesn't want to be there anyway
