Do you notice it's always the minority, albeit either democrats or republicans, who shoot for a bipartisan agreement? Seems like the majority tries to steam roll it through and the minority gets pissed that the majority doesn't follow their lead. They don't get their way and scream that it's not bipartisanship.

Another reason why the 2 party system is broke. HOWEVER, our Founders wanted debate to weed out offensive legislation. Bipartisanship is not the benefit touted.

True, but if 70% of the population elect a man based on his promise to make widgets go green and he would implement said such widget implementation. Why would the minority complain about the majority not following their lead?

Is it possibly a saving face gesture or do they truly believe it?

I don't think an opposition party is a bad thing. I don't support rubber stamp legislatures. And if implementing such green widgets is not constitutional then it shouldn't matter what the majority wants. If the majority wanted to lynch a black man would you support that too? The majority, just because it's a majority, isn't necessarily wiser. This is why democracies don't last long.

I dunno.

I dunno.

Sure there is wisdom in the minority. I don't discount that. However, I'd argue that the majority has a stronger percentage chance of being correct.....

Do you think the majority that denied blacks access to ride on public buses were right?
Do you think that the majority in congress rubber stamping doing Iraq was correct?
Or even that most Americans, even liberals, supported it at first.

It's a fallacy. Collective idiocy is still idiocy. Democracy in an insane asylum still results in an insane asylum.
Govt is here to protect rights and that must include property rights—something the left seems to think they have a right to re-distribute.
Do a lot of folks agree with that? Sure but it's still wrong.

Like I said there is wisdom in the minority don't get me wrong.

However, for everything bad that comes out of the majority rules I would venture to say it is higher than 2 to 1 in success vs. failure.

This is partially what my bipartisan thread was all about.

I don't think it's what we really want in this country. I think we just want to be less mean to each other.

How convenient for you that you realize this after your candidate won the election and after years of your fellow democrats criticizing the supposed lack of bipartisanship of his predecessor.

I just wish they could debate the merits of the issues instead of just party talking points. I understand it around here. But in Congress this is BS.

But in Congress this is BS.You have to understand something, this shit has been going on for over 200 years. There is nothing new under the sun, it is like the oober Raider/Chief rivalry.

Do you think, that there isn't payback for deals that were done before most of you were born going on? It's like, the evil dark lord enjoying the pain he inflicts as the purple shit is bolting out of his hands.

Actually, believe it or not, I'm quite conservative in many aspects.

What I do or don't do, I try to make the most good out of it.

I'll reiterate what I said earlier in another thread. I'd rather see this nation die than call for bipartisanship.

You twats aren't worth it. And neither will the nation be worth saving.

Well, like i posted in this thread, everybody (except maybe you) has been calling for bipartisanship as long as they are in the minority. So I'm not really sure what you're rambling about, but I suspect it was a way for you to transition into name calling.
