View Full Version : Religion Republicans shooting themselves in the foot AGAIN.

The Republicans are preparing to unveil their own "summary" of health care reform on MSNBC if you flip over soon.

This is just retarded. They forget the lessons of Newt Gingrich of the 90s and Nancy Pelosi of the mid 2000s: don't provide your own plan, just find every weakness in your opponent's plan and fire without mercy.

They got slaughtered in their opposition to Obama's budget for the same fucking reason.

Keep your eyes on this. It'll probably be a howler.

Had the same thought. They seemed to have learned one important lesson from that last budget "annoucement". Don't piss off the media by over promising a "major event" and deliver nothing when they put you on live TV.

I"m sure they under-promised this time, and will over deliver... if they are smart.

What's wrong with that? There shouldn't even be a "plan." Who wants healthcare sovietized with a central plan? It should be criticized. I can't wait to see you ten years from now about your tax bill.

You guys forget the lessons of Hillycare which swept the Rs back in.
Don't forget the only reason a socialist won was because the Busheviks were so bad.

Wow...really? They controled Congress from 94-06 on and had all 3 for 6 years........

If you think the Dems are going to maintain this kind of control you are out of your mind.

And I would argue the Repubs fucked themselves as opposed to some grand plan of Pelosi.

You're right...Pelosi is as middle of the road as they come. How dare I slam her and her moderate self.

Republicans Unveil Health Plan but Are Thin on Details
By Steven T. Dennis
Roll Call Staff
June 17, 2009, 12:13 p.m.

House Republicans presented a four-page outline of their health care reform plan Wednesday but said they didn’t know yet how much it would cost, how they would pay for it and how many of the nearly 50 million Americans without insurance would be covered by it.

Pelosi had a plan??? LMAO you guys really are suffering from head up the ass syndrome.

... uh, yes she did. It was a direct repeat of Newt's plan against Hillary Clinton's healthcare overhaul.

Don't propose an independent solution of your own. Just find flaws in the proposed plan and fire without mercy.

It worked for Newt against healthcare.

It worked for Pelosi against social security privatization.

And Republicans refuse to try it here, and they suffer the consequences when they don't.

Tht is a tactic, not a plan.

Their PLANS were to shoot down those humongous policy shifts, and they were successful.

Largely due to (wait for it...) that tactic.

Which is kind of the point of this thread.

Buc had the most accurate take in this whole thread.

The fact that the word 'plan' is being bantered around should signal that Congress (both Repubs and Dems) and the White House have over stepped their boundaries.

There shouldn't be any 'plan' coming from Washington about ANYTHING to do with something that is a private industry. It baffles me that people can't see the illogical and destructive effects government has on the economy. Yet here we are ready to learn our lesson again.

You criticize the plan, I ask how successful it is.

You criticize the plan, I ask how successful it is.

Well, I am one of those that says "I don't care so much why you think the other plan is wrong, tell me why your's is right?".

Any tool can sit around picking apart someone else, but to produce something as a valid alternative is much harder and most like Pelosi never do.

I give you the whole "anyone but Bush" mentality as a prime example. Bush was not the best choice. Doesn't mean Kerry or Gore were automatically better.

Or as I have said several times, just because I disagree with Dems or Pubs on an issue doesn't mean I think the other Party is right by default.

The diffenrence in you and me is you judge success by how many victories your party hangs on the wall, regardless of how hollow and the eventual outcome.

I judge success by the actual results and consequences.

No I can appreciate both approaches.

But some weapons are better used for some fights.

If I'm looking to beat universal healthcare in terms of public opinion, engaging a debate with my own suggestions rather than simply criticizing the proposed plan is a faulty strategy.

However, if I'm looking to engage you in a debate about the topic, bringing my own individual plan is a definitive plus.

Except the fact is the "definitive plan" anymore is to do more bitching about the other guy.

There are no definitive plans and that is the way political parties want it. The more pawns on the board the more issues they have to rally their troops around. Fix an issue, you remove a pawn. Remove a pawn you remove a cause. Remove a cause and you remove $'s from political coffers.

See, you seem to assume lots, which, of course, merely makes a fool out of you.

Dumbocrats is a good, generally reliable sign that one isn't actually a moderate but a partisan hack.

What should I have said, asshole? That the Dems bear no responsibility?

No, I'm merely pointing out where you claim to be a moderate yet all you seem to do is bash Democrats. I'll be the first to admit that the Democrats are an inept party and I've been forthright about the goons they have leading the Congress. (Hint: I don't like either of them.)

However, I have yet to see anything remotely close to a moderate comment from you. And that's why I continue to call you out on it. And then you continue to take the comments as a sign that its because you're slamming the Democrats and that I'm a huge liberal and therefore mad. It's much simpler than that.

Moreover, I noticed going through again that you completely ignored the fact I pointed out exactly why I said what I said. I guess no comment means that you take it as a fair assessment.
