Great link!

The smoker is getting two racks of ribs (one beef, one pork) and a pork tenderloin thrown in it this weekend for honorarium of KC BBQ!

As a side note, I may be close to perfecting my sauce. Did a taste test the past couple of weekends, and everyone preferred my sauce over Gates (original - I personally love the sweet and mild version - perhaps my all-time favorite BBQ sauce), Sweet Baby Rays (good god, that shit is horrible), 17th Streets (Memphis), Sticky Fingers (Carolina sauce), Fat Bastard's Bear Bite and the obligatory KC Masterpiece Original. However, the tasters are a bunch of BBQ philistines, so it really didn't mean much other than mild personal satisfaction.

Either bring this sauce to a tailgate to let the masses try it, or this story is bullshit. :D

I said close to perfection...not perfection yet. It still needs a touch more vinegar and pepper I think. Minutia, but, at least to me, something is missing.

Right now, the ingredient list includes:

Pureed tomatoes, apple cider vinegar, Hefeweizen, ground peppercorn, pineapple juice, paprika, chili powder, dry mustard, cayenne pepper, brown sugar, granulated sugar, celery seed, molasses, garlic powder, onion powder, ground sea salt, worcester, liquid hickory smoke, corn syrup, cumin, ginger.

Close. I need to make some subtle adjustments to the ratios.

Actually, it's my rub that really needs work.

Bryant needs a big pile of ribs in front of him. You know, like Tony Montana's big pile of cocaine?

I had no idea that Rosedale's was a Rieke restaurant. That family had some long tentacles back in the day.

Somebody needs to make a documentary. Or maybe there is one?

Nothing KC-centric. If any filmmakers out there want to collaborate, I've got the knowledge and sources to contribute to what would be a great documentary project.

You will KC-Centrize, and like it!

Seriously, all the doc shows have done the "Tale of US Barbecue"-trip.

I would like it very much. My meaning was that there hasn't been a KC-centric documentary on bbq yet... but if any filmmakers want to make a good one then I'd be a useful asset.

Anyone going to the Lenexa BBQ this weekend? If you are going, do you know people that will hook random strangers like me up with wonderful food?

ROFL

Bullshit! A lifetime of hickory smoke and sauce-ingestion ward off any and all diseases or ailments; scientific fact.

I agree, and you should.

You pay the money to be KCBS certified. I know KCBS judges who have terrible palates, but they pay their sixty bucks a year or whatever.
