Michael Mann, Johnnie Depp, Christian Bale, bank robberies, and guns... this looks like it *might* rival Heat.

Sweet.

I wish it was coming out this weekend.

For some reason I feel like this summer is really lacking compared to 2008. I guess we still have a bunch coming up though.

I saw the trailer to this when I saw "Angels and Demons", and it grabbed my attention. There's a lot of big names in this one, I just hope they live up to their past performances with some great acting.

I'm excited to see this, hopefully bale will do well in this.

I'm not digging Mann's digital camera work. I can somewhat understand what he was going for using them in Collateral and Miami Vice, but I really don't like it in this case. In some of the shots from the trailer, the lighting and movement looks extremely artificial.

They filmed some scenes here in Madison, 1/2 the females in the city surrounded the Capitol square hoping for some Depp love.

I'm looking forward to seeing it.

The reviews for it have been out for a a few days. Some have said really, really good. Others said it was just solid but not spectacular.

Man, GI Joe looks laughably bad from the previews alone. :doh!:

Oh fuck yes I cannot wait to see this.

1/2 because the movie looks awesome (I watched an HBO Special on it)
1/2 because I haven't seen a movie since The Hangover 3 weeks ago.

Its the summer DAMNIT! I need to be going to the movies.

I'm glad I avoided Transformers 2 though, I've heard nothing but bad things.

The Fresh Air reviewer said Bale both looked and acted like a wax dummy. Ouch.

Did he suffer head trauma recently? He was pretty bad in T4, too.

Tranformers 2 was a good popcorn flick......don't expect any Academy Award performances other than the special effects though.

I'll give Bale a pass in a McG directed movie, but not brining your A game for a Michael Mann movie is unforgivable.

I plan to put up a longer review later, but in short... Wow. Great friggin movie. Great.

Keep in mind, though, that Miami Vice is probably in my top 5 over the past 10 years or so. Same type of vibe, obviously, and I loved it.

wow.

Honestly, Mann has been spotty as of late.

Collateral i loved

Miami Vice i liked. It wasnt bad, but it left me kind of cold to be honest.

Just saw it. Turns out you can make a badass movie without making it retarded. This is excellent filmmaking AND a good time, and the perfect rebuttal to dumbass Transformers fans who accuse smart people of needing movies to be effete or hyper-intellectual if they don't like Michael Bay's dreck.

My friend saw this last night. Said it was a pretty good flick, but he was a bit disappointed. He said it had a lot of potential that it didn't realize. He said it was worth a viewing.

i would rank it behind transformers right now. Their cars didn't do any crazy like turn into an ipod

I thought it was pretty good. The first hour or so was captivating, but then it slowed down a little too much.

The romance seemed kind of forced. I didn't feel connected with the Dillinger/Billie relationship. It seemed immature and unbelievable.

Man, this film could have been 30 minutes shorter. The gunfights were a cacophony of shaky cam visuals and darkness/rack focus to either obscure environments or avoid collateral damage to the set cars.
Best part of this movie in my opinion were the sets&locations, wardrobe and vehicles. Oh and the sound design.

My wife and I just left the theater puzzled and felt let down. If it were shorter it would have seemed better.

Did they change directors every 30 minutes
