Ubuntu is giving me FITS

Ubuntu reminds me of the old DOS days but with slightly more headaches... probably caused by my unfamiliarity with the OS.

Here is my problem.

I cannot get sound from streaming flash in Firefox or any other browser.

I am running 9.04 64bit with HDMI sound from my ATi video card.

I've searched all over google and can't find a fix.

Any ideas?

No worries... I give up.

I've fucked with this thing for the past 12 hours and refuse to give it another minute.

cool. i have ati graphics onboard with HDMI out. sometimes it gives me a little blip about audio when i plug the hdmi in, i don't pay attention
