Sounds like your SMTP settings aren't working. Can you receive mail OK?
Does your mail server require SSL? You may have to enable SSL for it to work. Or it could be that your server is refusing to send mail because you're on a different domain. Sometimes a mail server will only allow you to send mail if you're on their network. You might try using your work's SMTP server just for the SMTP part instead of your home ISP's SMTP server.

hey - thanks man - it just hit me, because it's a business account, charter has to speak with me to open the email addy...geesh
