Note how he got fucking clobbered on the first and third throws. The second is just an absolutely beautiful pass.

I also like, on the third throw, how he starts throwing before Welker makes his break. Incredible.

Bow down, ROR.

I like how he escapes the rush and makes a GREAT throw on the run.

That's really the game where he came into his own. After that, the only 'bad' games he had were Pittsburgh (whole team collapsed after a Moss drop and a special teams screw up) and Buffalo (God awful wind made the game hell for everyone on the field, so Cassel went just 6 of 8 for 78 yards. It's not that Cassel was bad, it's the there was no passing game for either team).

Sorry to rain on your parade guys. But have you noticed none of those passes was a drop-back from under the center? Don't we already have one of those QBs?

Don't get me wrong, I'm actually rooting for Cassel over anybody that we have.

So? Drew brees, manning, brady and kurt all run shot gun offenses. As long as he's making good throws I don't care whether he gets the ball from over center or he's 25 yards behind the center. And he is more accurate than thigpen.

I don't get the big infatuation with having a qb that plays from under center most of the time. The best qbs in the game right now don't pass from under center most of the time so why do people keep complaining about it?

Ideally, I'd like to have a QB that plays under center for a large percentage plays, because the spread limits your running game to some extent.

And it still remains that teams that run the ball effectively win championships.

nah,nah,nah,nah

Ryan is 24
Cassell is 27

Ryan is in 2nd year
Cassell is in his 5th

Ryan was a 1st round pick
Cassell was a 7th round pick

Ryan started his entire college and pro career
Cassell has been a backup his entire college and pro career

Ryan moves to buy more time in the pocket
Cassel is just as likely to take off running down the field

Ryan has a better arm
Cassel has better legs

Ryan has a "over-the-top" throwing motion
Cassell is almost 3/4 like a pitcher

Ryan is more of a vertical passing game guy
Cassel is pretty much just a west coast, dink and dunk type guy

Ryan is finesse
Cassel is physical

They really don't have much in common except for their size.

And this all started with you saying "nope" to the comment that Matty Ice is Matt Ryan. So what's the point of the above breakdown?

I'll summarize: we have the lesser Matt. Doesn't mean he won't be an ok-successful NFL QB.

who's to say that? they both have played exactly one year.
cassel- 327 of 516 63.4% 3693 yards 21 td 11 int 89.4 ratg. 270 yards rushing

ryan- 265-434 65.2% 3440 yards 16td 11int 87.7 rtg 104 rushing.

i would say the jury's still out on the better( or lesser) player

I don't think the jury's out on Ryan at all. He's going to be a star for years to come, and I can't imagine an objective party stating that he'd prefer Cassel over Ryan.

Naturally there will be some Chiefs fans who say this, but that's about all, IMO.

Because Ryan is guy that started for hhs college team, who gained a reputation as a guy who raised the level of talent around him, who had one of the best rookie QB seasons in memory, while Cassel hadn't stated a game in 8 years, and who played with one of the most talented groups of recievers in his first opportunity after sitting the bench for those 8 years.

As DN said, if you're objective, Ryan is the clear choice.

Ryan was a n00b and playing for an organization that was dog shit...and he raised the bar. I don't think the two players are on the same level.
