Roddick takes the first set, breaking Federer on his last service game.

Go Andy!

OMG, someone give McEnroe a hankie so he can clean himself up. He's obviously losing body fluids over Roddick.

Roddick is a completely different player now. It used to be frustrating to watch all his talent go to waste doing stupid things, especially the unforced errors.

He's on his game right now, though. Freakishly good tennis from Roddick today.

About to go up 2 sets to love. This is incredible.

...Maybe not.

Wow. Roddick just blew 4 set points.

Roddick choking now. 6-2 lead in the 2nd set tiebreaker, and then loses it. I hope he can come back from that, but I think that may do it for Roddick...

Silock

That'll do it. Match over now. Federer has the momentum and the confidence. If Roddick had taken that set, it would have been match over.

so now it's Roger's turn.:eek::cuss:

Whew. RFed has finally woken up. Now get this over with so I can get on with my day...

Ok, so he's not ready. Fine. I have nothing better to do with my morning.

I wouldn't say he's woken up, and is far from dominating. He's playing well, but so is Roddick. Fed has yet to break Roddick's serve...

Roddick up a break in the 4th. Would love to see this go 5...

Yes, since I wrote that he seems to have fallen back into a coma. Hence I deleted it. Hope it works...

I thought nothing could top last years epic battle but this one is pretty close...

I don't think Federer is going to pull this out. Roddick is just not giving an inch. I don't think he wins in a match that involves power vs. finesse. That is his problem with Nadal.

This 5th set could go 40 games. Best match I've ever watched.

Me too as long as it's Roddick.

I just hope it ends fairly, not a call by that stupid "Hawk" system in/out thing. What a joke. Federer had one that hit the line called out and one that was clearly out called in.

as talented as roddick is, it makes one wonder how many majors he'd have won if there was no federer in this generation.

Damn. Hell of a match by Roddick - wish he could have pulled it out...

Roddick mis-hit a bunch of shots in the last couple games - wonder if he was having trouble with the shadows...

I wanted Federer. I'm a big fan of his. With that being said, if he'd lost this it would have felt a helluva lot better than the loss last year to Nadal. That was brutal.

Nadal will be back and Roger will be second best again.

Roddick's old game never held up. He made way too many mistakes to compete for championships consistently. It looks like he's finally found a coach that can get into his head and hence, make far fewer mistakes.

I disagree. He played a very solid match. The problem was he did not put Federer away when he had a chance in the 3rd set. I seriously thought Roddick was going to pull this out in the end. I think he was still playing with more power than Federer even at the end. Roger was playing on sheer will.

I was talking about the old Andy Roddick vs. the new Andy Roddick.

Oh, ok. Yes, he's stepped up his game in a BIG way. I wonder what this would have looked like if it had been Nadal vs. Roddick. With their level of power and intensity would have been insane.

Roddrick just couldn't handle his serve well enough. It's too bad, Andy was really upset after the match. :(
