It fits his philosophy of "right now."

DDJ had a couple of struggles last night in CF, so it makes sense to move him, right? Pay no attention to the fact that he's better suited for the position and playing Maier and Pena Jr. and Pena against Beckett is essentially raising the white flag and greatly increasing the chances of a no-no.

It's called lack of instincts, all under the umbrella of piss-poor talent.

DeezNutz
07-12-2009, 12:44 PM
DDJ has to be able to read that off the bat. I don't care if he's been told to "see it through the infield."

That ball was so weakly struck that he would have scored easily. DeJesus's baseball IQ is about 10, though, so that's how it happens.

It's not the 3B coach's fault.

DeezNutz
07-12-2009, 12:45 PM
Two options on that play:

1. Playing down angle. Running on anything down, not hit at the 3B. Thus you're only fucked on a ball back to the pitcher.
2. See it through the infield. Played when the infield is in.

Royals were obviously doing #2, and this is where a runner's instincts make or break the deal.

Agreed. But, back to your 2 rules.....Owen should have told DDJ between pitches what was what....if they play "see it through the infield" then that is just bad coaching....bad, bad, bad baserunning on DDJ..but I don't let the coaching slide on that

DeezNutz
07-12-2009, 12:50 PM
Royals with 0 players with 30+ walks.

But OBP is the most important offensive statistic, according to Moore and Hillman. And we continue to acquire players with no plate discipline and who never walk (Betancourt).

Again, we won't ever win a thing with these two in charge.

I have no problem with folks disagreeing with a coaching philosophy. None.

I'm just saying that DDJ should have been able to override this, assuming one has a problem with the overall approach.

My blame designation: 97% on DDJ. 3% improper coaching.
