hey guys I need a clue

bought a 78 honda twinstar 185cc
it was cheap and it was the bike I learned to ride on 30 some years ago
it's a intown commuter bike
I drive 3 miles to work

I got it running, changed plugs ( the old ones were black)
ran it for a week and it started running 2 blocks and dieing
the guy I boght it from said he just rebuilt the carb and it leaked alover the place
got that fixed

so this week I dumped some heet in it
no, just a little bit
and now it won't even fire
got spark to the plugs and they are black again

Ideas
Carb?
rings leaking back into plugs?
stop being cheapget a real mechanic?

thanks

Fouled plugs maybe? Could be several things.

Ask "Midnight Douche" he knows EVERYTHING about motorcycles and how to pick up chicks with it too.

Sounds like it's way too rich especially given you already had issues with the carb. Maybe he didn't know what he was doing when he "rebuilt" it. If he replaced parts with the wrong ones it might be hard to sort out. A shop could do it for you but it would cost you a few bucks.

psych.

just a suggestion. if you can't figure it out here and a promechanic would charge too much then put an ad up on Craigslist for some parttime guy for help in motorcycles.
