people seem to, well, i dont say forget but not really mention how herms bad coaching and poor management costed us some games we could have won.. it seems like no one takes that into account when they talk about the upcoming season, i sense alot of pessimism but really anything could happen.. everyones just so used to kansas city sports sucking, and they do, but at least theres a real change happening, i know it didnt take with the royals but the NFL is different. i guess im just wondering why no one seems excited for the season.. god i wonder how it'd be if herm was still the coach

We'd still have Croyle, Thigpen, and Huard. Surtain and Edwards would still be the "leaders" on our defense.

Vastly different, Mr. reiko57. In my view, anyhow.

As mentioned above, we would still be trying to make it work with a lot of the guys we had, for one thing. I expect us to be in far better physical shape and better prepared, for another.

Also, it's fair to assume that our gameday decision-making will be quite different, as will our overall game philosophy. I don't think (although I don't really know for sure) that Haley will play "not to lose" football.

Finally, I honestly believe that there will emerge a different ... attitude on the part of the franchise. I mean from top to bottom. He Who Puts His Pants On Backwards made a lot of excuses - for himself and everybody else. I don't think we'll see a whole lot of that in this regime, for example.

EDIT: After thinking about it for a second, I realized that, other than a couple of players, I can't think of one, single, damn thing from last year's team that I'd like to see carry over to this one. Not one.

i was kinda talking about like real life, not around here, but i mention the chiefs to someone, a stranger or something at the casino or whereever, and they get this wrinkled look on their face

is it because not much news leaks out about the chiefs? and most people have all last season taking up the majority of their chiefs brainspace? because even some people who listen to sports radio and follow the team religiously seem to be that way.. i always think it'll snap people out of their royals depression but it doesnt

it does for me man, i cant wait for the season to start, screw the royals

The Chiefs would be competing for a super bowl if Herm was still the coach

Well, we will underperform on defense, as we play in our hybrid defense (which I'm convinced is just for this season until we can get more players next year to do a full-out 3-4). And we'll be learning a brand new offense with a brand new QB having lost the best receiver on the team.

I think it will be a rocky year. But I'm okay with that.

Rocky sounds better than 2-14.

Rocky sounds better than 2-14.

It probably won't be a whole lot better than that.

I have a question for you, Mr. Mecca. It's not a trick question or anything like that ... completely sincere and authentic ...

What team, in your memory, experienced the most significant, most positive, one-year turnaround? I mean, was expected to be really bad and surprised you by being much better than you anticipated?

Generally when it happens, like people will point to the Dolphins, they have a very favorable schedule. The Chiefs don't have that benefit.

How do you know? Each year is different in the NFL. I've said Baltimore is a winnable game and people on here were all pissy about it. How do you know the Chiefs rookies last year weren't real talented and just not coached?

All chiefs fans suffer from Carl Peterson hangover. :doh!: Until we get drunk on Pioli the hangover will continue.

PS Did you guys hear Micheal Jackson died?

Out of curiosity, why do you think Baltimore (on the road, no less) is a winnable game?

People get pissy around here when people can't, or choose not to support their case.

IM pumped about this season. It will be great to see how all these changes turn out.
A 7 win season would be a huge boost to guys who have been through 2 and 4 win seasons. It will be tough, but in this division it could happen.
I'm really excited to see what Bowe does. If Bradley can stay healthy, I think Bowe will explode.

If Herm was still the head coach?

Thigpen would be our starting QB....although he'd have to battle it out with Croyle because Croyle still deserves a shot.

We would have drafted Eugene Monroe with our 1st round pick...and Albert would have been kicked in at LG.
