I was hoping that the #3 overall pick would be a rotational guy, myself.

Starter week 1?

Over Boone?? Jesus I hope so.

Boone plays DE. Tyler plays NT.

Week 1 I would hope would be Jackson - Tyler - Dorsey. Tyler wasn't bitched around as much as Edwards was. He needs to learn how to get leverage though.

More interesting question. Sort of. I don't think either Tank or Edwards can reliably anchor the center of the DL against double teams.

Yep.

The 34 without a DT is going to get very, very ugly.

I wouldn't be surprised if the Chiefs pick up guys other teams cut...

too few.

We'll end up keeping guys just to fill roster spaces.

You're really going out on a limb there.

Magee's role in the defense?

It's better than Vermiel's whole "these are our guys" stuff that always use to drive me nuts.

I don't know where you get the courage.

I'll top that - I bet they seriously consider taking some guys that get cut from a) the Cards, b) the Pats, c) other teams that play a 34.

they've already said they expect 5 roster spots to be filled with guys that didn't go to camp with them, didn't they?

something like that..

We just traded LeKevin Smith to the Donx. I had him as a bubble guy, but he's certainly a very servicable part-timer / rotation guy.

Not sure how many decent D-Linemen we'll be trading/cutting now.

I've been saying for a bit now that you guys will likely sign whoever is out in NE after this year of Wilfork/Seymour. Both are FA's after '09. :(

Now THAT would be pretty awesome.

Boone looked like ass from what I could tell.

Jackson didn't start because he missed a few days of camp and is likely behind.

He'll be starting week 1. I liked what I saw out of Dorsey and McGee too.

We just drafted Seymour. No need to sign his father.

Edwards sucked. If Tyler can't get some push at the Nose, the Chiefs are in bad need of a legit NT.

Wilfork, on the other hand, ...

Not in my book, but I'm resigned to losing one of the two, probably Seymour, and better to the Chiefs than a bunch of other temas I could name.

Alot of dependencies here, but Pats have too many big $$ FAs to sign them all, and Chiefs have alot of room under the cap. Both will be around 30 or maybe a year or two less, so age is about right.

Talk to me after your boy sees 6 Pro Bowls.

Seymour is going to rip the league a new one this year. He's healthy for the first time in 3 years.

Magee's role in the defense?

In the first half, we ran the 2-4-5 defense approximately 7 or 8 times. Every time the Texans were in a long distance situation for except maybe once. Even a 3rd and goal from the 5. And McGee and Jackson were the primary two that lined up in the down linemen portion of that scheme.

In Haley's Q&A from today, he made mention of our 3rd down defense, commenting that it was very good on the whole game limiting the Texans to 18% on converting the first down.

Second half, he got more work at the DE spot.
