Cassel. Thread over.

Hasn't shown me much yet. Thigpen showed me quite a bit last year considering the lack of talent he had around him.

Considering the bucks the chiefs paid for Cassel you are probably right. Trent started out sucking and turned into one of the best QB's in the chiefs history IMO. Cassel might pan out but if I were going to pick someone that has proven he can get away from the rush I'd probably vote for Thigpen.

Cassel. Money. GM brought him in specifically.

Cassel was throwing to Devard Darling and Terrance Copper in his only game as a Chief. In the rain. He'll be fine.

Sometimes the big bucks doesn't always equate to quality. I hope it does, but there is always the outside chance that he was a flash in the pan.

I'm not suggesting that any one of those $60M dollars will translate into good football, but certainly they will equate to "starting job".

I almost answered the poll but I don't like answering questions with a question. If you had Cassell as a choice without the question mark at the end that would be my choice because there is no question to it. You don't pay a guy that kind of money to come in and ride the bench unless he's a rookie that you're banking on for the future.

If either of them are actually better it would be a given. We don't really have anything to boost Cassel other than getting to start for what could have been the best team in football last year with Brady behind center.

I have no doubt that Cassel will start, but is he really the best? Thigpen was reasonably good behind a crappy line and a shitty head coach last year. How would he have done playing behind the Patriots line? Or even Croyle for that matter.

So, if you see that we go to the 8th game and Cassel still sucks will you consider that he was a flash in the pan?

As stated, he will most likely start but that doesn't mean he is really the better quarterback of the three.

So, let's see.

He only threw 5 passes that you saw in the preseason game. one was batted down at the LOS, the other 4 were perfectly placed throws, two of which were dropped by the WR, and one in which he got out of trouble, and made a great throw on the run, and you say "he sucks".

Why, I think you must be the best talent evaluator ever when you can reach that conclusion based on the small positive sampling you have to work.

We all need to petition Scott Pioli to hire you on as a scout.

FUCK NO!!!!

There's too much at play( or the lack thereof )around him right now; a suspect line and receiving corps for starters.

If Cassel "sucking" means making bad reads and horrible throws on a consistent basis, then there will be at least four people on this board breaking it all down and tearing him a new asshole while they do it.

But I don't think it's going to come to that.

My issue here is, you can not POSSIBLY begin to make these kinds of judgments after one pre season game!

After two preseason games I see that the consensus for Cassel is pretty deep. I hope those that voted in that manner are right, we do need a franchise QB.

I am disappointed in the lack of presence of Thigpen. I will bet that he is released before the season starts. Should Cassel be injured Croyle will be hurt within the first 4 quarters he plays and then they won't have the 3rd QB on the roster.

Our OL better be a big improvement over last year or we are going to be also rans for some time to come.

Everyone here knows we have had that for way too many years. "There's always next year" should never be said in KC again and the FO needs to staff up so that happens.

I thought Guiterrez played pretty well on Friday night but he missed a couple of potential big plays especially the game winner to Wright (could have been Lawrence) on an out pattern underneath the fade route of Lelie. That should have been an easy 6 with a good throw from Guiterrez.

He definitely locks on to the right side of the field to throw to.

Gutz is what he is. He's not the guy you want one hit away from the field. He's fine to get you through training camp, and he might be an upgrade over Thigpen for a team that would only use him in a dire emergency, but the Patriots have cut him in each of the past two seasons.
