Now that preseason game #2 is over here is a spot for guesses on how they think the final roster is playing out. Obviously this is too early and still plenty can happen with the waiver wire, trades, etc.

Just give it your best shot on what the current roster is.

Who and How many at each position?

I'll probably list guys as In, Bubble, and LS (longshot) at each position to cover the whole current roster.

Do it however ya want though.

Ready, set, go!

This is going to be really hard to do because this team will probably end up picking up alot of cut players due to just the general lack of talent here.

I thought i covered that in the op but yes i realize that. If we don't fill as many holes through waivers, street FA's and Trades and have to keep a few less talented guys ......... that's all. As of right now. Of course it will look different in the coming weeks.

we only have DET and STL in front of us for Waiver priority. Plus i think the Vet rule is still in effect for Game #1 and the first week. Certain vets if they are on the roster week one through the game sunday have contracts guaranteed for the year even if cut after that. So that could effect in some situations.

Maybe the Chiefs will get lucky and Orakpo and Loadholt will be cut.

Not that we don't have a need for a right tackle or pass rusher...

At this point hope some competent WR's/return man or long snapper gets cut that alone would help.

A return guy would be nice. I'm thinking that we will be okay on wideouts, with Bowe, Lelie, Engram, Toomer and whatever two young stiffs that are on the roster, but one cannot expect any of those first four WR's to be fielding returns. That Charles was doing it in the 4th quarter against the Vikings shows how desperate this team is for someone to step up and do that particular job. However, other than Charles - who really should be our starting tailback, there is a lack of "explosiveness" on this team in general.

Oh, and sorry for the Orakpo and Loadholt comment. I'm just still immensely pissed off about the last draft.

Ha I don't like Brian Orakpo.

He looked okay tonight. Put out a lot of effort and was getting into the backfield routinely. They had to double team him.

QB in: Cassel, Gutierrez
bubble: Croyle, Thigpen

Keep 3

RB(Includinge FB) In: LJ, Battle, Charles
Bubble: Savage, J. Williams, J. Collins
LS: Cox. Note: I know Gailey has had him at GT and last year but his only contribution is as a lead blocker. I don't think he is a good Sp. teams guy and his lead blocking is average at best.

Keep 4 or 5

TE
In: Ryan, O' Connell
Bubble: Cottam, Crabtree.
I've read Haley applaud Crabtree once in OTA/mini camp and also TC. He likes the guy but he hasn't got much PT and will probably be a practice squad addition.

Keep 2-3 , remember Vrabel can help in goaline or also an extra OL/OT as a blocker.

WR
In: Bowe, Bradley, Toomer, Lawrence
Bubble: Engram, Copper, Darling, Lelie
LS: T. Johnson, Wright

I know Lawrence could get cut and hope he slides to the PS(probably a good chance he would go unclaimed). His drops have to have Haley not impress he isn't showing much improvement. Also he must show some vision on returns. I think it's either or but not both with Darling/Copper as both are the best at covering kicks and copper could fill in as a KR on occasion. Same with Lelie/Engram. Either or not both. With the lack of a recieving TE i see them starting out carrying more than usual.

Keep.
6

OL
In: Albert, Waters, Niswanger, Goff, Richardson, Brown
Bubble: Taylor, McIntosh, Ghiaciuc, W. Smith, Harris
LS: Washington(unless he gets healthy and shows something) Cam Goldberg, De La Puente.

Notes: Either taylor or Mc as the swing tackle but probably both. De La P could be in the mix with Eric G and Smith as the C/G combo backup but i don't think he has much push at G.

Keep : 9, 10

K/P/LS

IN: Colquitt, Succop, Gafford.

I could see them looking for a different LS if a more proven one is cut. Also talk of Studebaker training for that, LS. I don't see it this season though, not right away anyway.

Defense Next. Basically figuring Offense:25, same on D and 3 for Sp. T = 53

Here's a mega longshot. Mcintosh to Seattle (Mike Solari is the OL coach) as a insurance policy for Jones's Knee inj and future and we get back a 7 we traded this year to move up for O'Connell. Or Mc could even get cut and they would Keep Goldberg as the 4th OT ( i think he needs PS time but he fits the mold of smart OL pioli likes)I would like to see him get snaps at both T spots maybe in the last ps game at STL.

Defense

DE
In: Jackson, Magee, Boone, Dorsey

NT: Edwards, Tank

Bubble: Gilberry, Lokey, Gales
LS: Greenwood

Gales or Greenwood, probably Gales as a PS candidate. He is Listed at 259 but is probably closer to 280. Same with OT Goldberg listed at 265 and probably really 290 or so. Those are 2 i think they have a mind for the PS with the TE Crabtree and i think they have hopes for all 3. Greenwood looks pretty sloppy to me.

Gilberry or lokey could sneak on if they keep 7. This is one of many spots they will pick up a body when cutdowns happens.
DL Keep 6 or 7

LB
In: Vrabel, Hali, Studebaker
DJ, Mays, Belcher, Beisel
Bubble: Thomas(he probably makes it unless the health issue doesn't allow it)
Redd, D. Williams, Walters, McBride
LS: Corey Smith

I think Belcher has made it unless he screws it up. Haley has called him out as someone who could make it just for his sp. teams ability and haley seems serious about keeping at least 1 or 2 guys for those purposes aside from the 3 K/P/LS.

I think the only way Williams makes it is if he knocks off Beisel which is possible. Williams is the better special teamer but Beisel has a history with Clancy and could fill in on the oustide if needed. Redd i think probably makes it but he didn't get many snaps in the game Friday night. I could see them moving Walters or McBride to DE for the (i think anyway) 7th spot on the DLine. Probably PS for Walters. McBride has lost alot of weight but reacts way to slow at OLB and should be much better on special teams than he has been.

LB Keep 9 maybe 10

CB
In: Flowers, Carr, Leggett, Washington
Bubble: Daniels, Colclough, Fryar
LS: Bates

Keep 5 Down to either Daniels or ColClough IMO

S
In: Page, Pollard
Bubble: McGraw, Brown, Morgan, Price

I think they keep 4. McGraw is the better special teamer but both he and brown have looked like crap in coverage. Morgan is easily the most dissapointing player this TC so far IMO.

as far as the weak spots and where they could look to add:
WR/TE, any upgrades
OL, all spots
DL maybe if they can upgrade the last spot
OLB any pass rushers that come available
ILB i think they are set up pretty good.
S, depth
LS and return specialists, if they come available.

I also think its possible to deal a guy like boone or edwards to carolina. They more likely to go for a one year fill in than dorsey IMO.

I think Morgan and Cottam could very well be traded or out right cut in morgan's case.

Anyway, like i said it is way too early for this but more of an overall evaluation of the roster as it stands.

FYP

I think the likely depth chart order will be Croyle as #2 and Matt G as the third. The only way Thigpen makes it is if they decide to keep him around for his athletic ability.

I think it still needs to play out though between Croyle and Matt G for the backup job.

Guitierez looked good and hasn't been on the team that long so i was impressed with him.

Solid gold Micjones. If it ends up being anything else, sans cut signings at WR/OL, I'd be shocked.

I can't find any fault with Mic's final 53, other than questionig whether we'll keep two FBs or three TEs, and only keep 6 LBs.

My best guess is that one of those TEs won't make the final cut (O'Connell), and DeMorrio Williams will.

Gafford will likely be used in the TE spot so this could very well be true.
I think it helps the team to have another talented LB in the fold.
But he's had some trouble staying healthy so I get the feeling he might be walked in favor of keeping a younger guy like Belcher.

Oh yeah, I think Belcher makes this team ahead of Williams.

I'm just thinking with a 34, it's likely we'd keep 7 LBs, rather than just 6, so Williams makes the team as that 7th.

I had them keeping 7.

I did completely forget about McBride though.
He and Williams aren't both going to make this team.
I'd like to see Belcher stick because I think he could catch on elsewhere if we try to put him on our Practice Squad.

Think they'll let McBride walk?

At first glance, it looked like six.

And yeah, I think there's a very good chance that Turk walks.

I definitely think it's premature to believe Haley will cut Tyler Thigpen in favor of Gutierrez. KC needs to at least trade Thigpen for a 7th round draft choice before cutting him outright.

This should be interesting. The WR group is so crowded. It should be interesting to see what comes of it. I don't think Copper makes the team like some have said. Haley would have to think he is an UNBELIEVABLE ST player because he offers next to nothing as a WR.

I can't see either Engram or Toomer on the squad, let alone both.

I suspect that Bowe, Bradley, Darling and Lelie are locks. Lawrence has a chance but I think the other WR will come from waivers or trades.

I agree. You would think that Engram would have the best chance to stick because of him being around before mini camp, and the ability to return punts if need be.

I believe that KC's top 3 WR's are Bowe, Bradley and Lelie. Lelie in very limited action looked like he still has decent speed and can get up for the catch. I'm excited to see what he can do in the final Preseason games. Maybe Lelie is our answer in the slot, or Lelie outside with Bradley in the slot?

JMO, i think we will only keep 1, maybe 2 vets at WR, Engram, Toomer, and Lelie all wont make the team.
