I just read this. Very interesting.

http://www.profootballweekly.com/2009/08/13/tougher-johnson-better-fit-for-colts-than-ugoh

The demotion of Colts OLT Tony Ugoh to backup was more a function of Ugoh having disappointed than Charlie Johnson a swing guard-tackle having been particularly inspiring. When the Colts traded up in the second round of the 2007 draft to take the athletic tackle out of Arkansas, giving up an '08 first-round pick, they did so believing that his quickness was precisely what they needed to protect Peyton Manning's blind side.

But injuries, a lack of toughness and inconsistency have kept Ugoh from meeting expectations. He has become even more of a liability since Jim Caldwell has taken over as head coach, as the Colts' difficulty running the ball last year convinced the coach that getting stronger and more physical up front is of paramount importance to reclaiming offensive superiority. While Johnson isn't as athletic as Ugoh and might take some time to get comfortable against speed rushers, he brings more of a blue-collar personality to the offensive line.

And now this...

The Colts' left tackle conundrum is only getting uglier. In his first preseason start, heavy-footed Charlie Johnson proved ill-equipped to handle the Eagles' speed off the edge. Although there are no imminent plans to demote Johnson just a couple of weeks after he supplanted Tony Ugoh on the depth chart, Johnson's lack of agility is clearly a liability in pass protection.

I guess i haven't paid too much league-wide attention. I thought Ugoh was everything they wanted.

Actually, he didn't. He consistently struggled.

They gave up a high number two and a number one for the guy and he's been a major disappointment.

I think the Colts slip quite a bit this year.

That was 2007 and he played "okay".

Last year, not so much.

Tennessee won't get even close to 14 wins this year but I doubt the Colts get more than 10.

Houston is the team to beat in the South this year.

I wouldn't be surprised at all if they took that division.

Cool. Manning needs to spend more quality time becoming one with the turf. :grr:

Houston had the number 3 overall offense in the league last year and they'll be just as good (barring injuries) if not better this season.

Their defensive line has grown up: Okoye, Williams and now Antonio Smith will bring a massive amount of heat, as will Connor Barwin on the outside. They may have the best linebacker in all of football in Demeco Ryans and their secondary is good.

They're the team to beat in the South, without a doubt.

I totally agree.

Despite their offensive prowess, this team has always bored the crap outta me. No personality.
