On CTN, they said he was probable for return was the official word, but Rich Baldinger threw his two cents in and said he doubted the return of Cassel tonight. I think he's fine, but they'll take precautions and probably keep him out and showcase Thigpen.

He grabbed his knee. I thought that initially, but not now. If it was something minor, there would be an update by now, and he would at least be back on the sideline. An MRI takes 15 minutes...

Posted via Mobile DeviceI'm guessing it's a sprain and he's out a few weeks. Which would mean September just went from worse to worser.

And that's me being optimistic.

(Although at the same time, I think if he's out for the year or something, we'd probably have heard that, too)

Why is that? He has a whopping .36 seconds to throw the ball, that should be plenty, besides, scrambling is the last thing on his mind playing behind our juggernaut of an offensive line.

I have been harping on this all off season. I was going to start a "death watch thread" regarding which week Casel was going to get knocked out for the year. Last year the line was embarrassing and got two QB’s killed and the other had to run for his life. There has been almost zero improvement in the line. Sure we got a few new names in here, *SNICKER* but they are scrubs to go with the scrubs. The only surprise here, is the fact that some people are surprised that the line is still a steaming pile of shit.

Per Pee-Hole-ee:Clark Hunt on suicide watch. Scott expressing deep regret to all of Chiefs Kingdom for signing a guy that has played one season since high school for 3 years guaranteed at $13.5 million per when he was signed for one year at $14.5 mill. "We could have seen what he could do behind a line that wasn't part of an 18-1 season the previous year, but Clark and Myself wanted to take some heat off of our Truman Sports Complex counterparts Dayton Moore and David Glass. Felt it was in the best interest of both major-league teams to show incompetence and futility in personnel evaluation by having a Jose Guillen type potential bust on on both team's payrolls. The Kansas City Chiefs refuse to follow like a bunch of sheep so we decided to show the Royals we can do better. Rather than going 3 years at $12 million for Guillen we decided to bitch slap the Glass family and one-up them by going 3 years at $13.5 mill per for Cassell. Take that biatch's!!"

Nothing to do with that. Thigpen has been running with the two's all week. Aside from the fact that we needed to "showcase" Thigpen to try and get his trade value up(bad idea), it was his turn.

If you hadn't noticed, the 3 backups have been rotating though the preseason.

Actually, I believe it was Niswanger's man who made the sack. Niswanger did a decent job with him, pushing him to Cassel's right. But he eventually made it all the way behind Cassel where Mike Cox picked him up and didn't hold him.

If anyone is to blame, it's Cox, IMO.

The blocking scheme on that play called for a double team, and Niswanger and McIntosh both faled, while Mike Cox failed to get a block on him after he'd already beaten Niswanger/Mcintosh.

From the looks of the play, It looked to me to me that it could be a high ankle sprain. I've had them and they hurt like a SOB. They are really difficult to get over and will affect Cassel's mobility. The good news is that he would be able to play on it, but it will take a while to completely get over it.

I'm not sure why everyone keeps saying it's his ankle. It's a slight knee sprain confirmed by Baldinger last night. Cassel even grabbed his knee while on the ground.

A knee strain is just like an ankle sprain. They will ice the hell out of it the next couple of days, and electric stim it over and over to keep the muscles warm. I think Cassel will play a series or so in next Preseason's game.

Cassel x-rays negative (http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2009/08/30/cassel-x-rays-negative/)

The good news for Chiefs quarterback Matt Cassel is that x-rays on his injured left leg are negative.

The reality is that x-rays don't tell doctors much if anything about ligaments and cartilage.

So we know that Cassel's leg isn't broken. We don't know whether any ligaments are torn.

Though reports don't indicate that Cassel will have an MRI, we can't imagine why the Chiefs wouldn't rule out ligament tears.

Cassel suffered the injury on his third snap in Saturday night's preseason game against the Seahawks. He left the game and did not return.

I fully expect "the Patriot way" to be used.
Thiggy's trade status could be some indication. if they make a deal Cassel isn't hurt too bad.
if they don't take a token bag of chips or pack of gum soon the length and severity of the injury will be reason for concern.
