I hope they put a team in Birmingham. I enjoyed rooting for the Stallions in the original USFL

Whatever happended to the other one? The All-American Football League or something like that?

Jeez. That, this, the XFL, NFL Europe, all this crap... If they'd all come together and just make one offseason league, they'd be in business. Don't bother trying to go head-to-head with the NFL. Have a nice 12-game season, May through July, playoffs finishing up before the end of August.

After a long period of quietness, it appears the New USFL is getting close to making an announcement about its future. A source within the league indicated they are just about there, meaning details should be forthcoming in the very near future.
The UFL has taken many of the headlines among new leagues in recent months with numerous announcements, including a TV deal with Versus, but none have been bigger than when the four quality head coaches were introduced.
The UFL kicks off this October and will play on Thursday and Friday evenings in the fall. The USFL is slated to begin in the spring of 2010.

More info on the schedule and teams at launch.

The planned new league was announced in August by Michael Dwyer, founder and chairman of the new league. The New USFL season will run from February through June and will feature a 16-game season with no pre-season games. There will also be wild card and division playoffs leading to a new USFL Championship Game at the end of June. The league will start with 12 teams and grow to a maximum of 16 teams.
