Yup O'Hanlon is the starter. The secondary has sucked for awhile and looks like it will this year too. Though Asante is a pretty good player.

I was hoping Thenarse would have learned how to get into posistion on plays by now.

I still prefer having him on the field, because he isn't afraid to put his helmet on someone.

Pellini will do a good job at coaching him up. The Defense really improve last year in a short period of time, so even though a guy like O'Hanlon isn't that good with Pellinis coaching the secondary should be ok. Also the linebackers are a bit of a concern 2 freshmen and a sophomore. Good thing the Huskers have a player like Suh.

But at the same time they have 5-7 year lifespan in the pros. If you are guaranteed a first day pick - might as well just go and make the money while you can. You can still take the same beating in college that you can in the pros.

O yea, he looked great, i am not worried at all about the qb play at all, when he throws the ball, it gets there in a hurry. Green already played in mop up duty, and he started off with about a 50 yard run, he got some speed. After that play the announcer, said"can you say Vince Young". I am a little worried about the D line, sometime we werent getting any push at all, but i feel confident Bo will get that fixed.

I really screwed that one up, O'Hanlon played a hell of a game. He should have had 2 picks......

kcfan82
09-05-2009, 09:33 PM
The only negative I saw was that I felt the defensive line should have gotten more push and pressure vs. an inferior opponent. They were doubling Suh most of the game and he was in the backfield early in the game and batted a ball down.

Cody Green looked like an excellent runner. He looked like Josh Freeman if he had wheels....

Didn't get to see much of his arm though.

We gave up too many passing yards.Lots of youngsters that have to grow up in a hurry on both sides of the ball but for the 1st game I was impressed by the offense most of all. Much better than I expected. Green and Burkhead play as advertised. Lee had a very good game. Helu was Helu. Defense looked sloppy at times but Pelini said it would get straighten out. I give the Huskers a B for a first win.

I just can't defend my team today. I've lost a little respect for Pelini today. Not a lot, but he needs to prove something to me as a defensive coach. He was brought in to stop those defensive breakdowns.

I'm pissed at almost everyone except Helu. I'm gonna give Lee more time cuz the Hokies can play some D. But any number of offensive mistakes in the second half really hurt.

The D played great til the last series. Pellini should have went for it on 4th and 1 if they don't get it Va Tech still has to go 60 yards with no timeouts. Also Matt Millen said punt it so you always do the opposite of Matt Millen.

They were on the 6 yard line and ended up having to punt. Those points were the ball game. Also they kicked like 4 Fg's in the red zone. You should ateast score a TD half the time in the red zone.

I didn't see the end of the game. I assume that NU must have held on for a victory, right? Mizzou's handed NU their asses the last couple of years, though. Maybe NU lost by 80. Since Mizzou only beat NU by 35 the last couple of years, I guess VT must be pretty good.

This loss is worse than those. I don't think the Callahan teams would've done much had they won those games. I don't know if I expected to win those games. This defense let a lifeless offense go 90 yards with no timeouts. Plus all the other plays that cost us.

So, a QB hitting a WR with no one around him seemed the same as having the play defensed perfectly, only to get the luckiest of bounces.

Hell they dominated the entire game. They just broke down on 3 plays the entire game. Unfortunately those 3 ended up costing us the game. Huskers are still too young and inexperienced. Hell there's only 6 seniors on the entire team. We weren't going to go unbeaten this year and I hope they take a valuable lesson away from the game that is when you get down around the end zone you have to trust your line and play power football. Just now watching the game since I had a wedding to attend during the F*CKING GAME!! but I listened to most of it before the wedding and right after near the end. Heard the big play at the end. But I was pissed as well that they got cute and just didn't pound the ball to pick up that final 1st down that would of ended the game. Oh well. The good thing was that at least it wasn't a conference game. Huskers will be fine and like last year losing shitty may be a blessing that will instill a finish the f*cking game and put it away mentality. One can only hope.

I like our chances the rest of the season. Most people here didn't see it, but the season turned around last year after a loss. Blacksburg was the toughest road situation we will face.

Maybe. Lee can't play like that vs teams that can actually score.

wow, i had a shitty weekend, the huskers and the chiefs game were similar. They both dominated but somehow find a way to lose, Jesus my sport life sucks

Hokies and Broncos won so I guess I balance you out. :)

The polls are a mess. Somebody voted BYU ahead of Florida State. NU loses by one at a top 15 team, yet they drop us five or six spots. NU, KU and Mizzou are still neck and neck. Nobody has answered the questions about them.

Not to mention Washington(a nice win and all at home even) gets bumped all the way up ahead of them. A 2-1 team that lost every game last year.

The Kansas game should be another wild one

We will get 10 wins if we split with Kansas and Oklahoma
