Like I said in the other thread, cut Thigpen put him 3rd see how it goes for a year or 2, if he sucks you cut him and you're out nothing.

No risk situation.

It's almost like the Chiefs are playing fantasy football.

They have a high waiver wire pick, but they have to judge if they want the talented offensive lineman or the QB with a lot of upside who didn't get much of a chance with his last team.

If you've watched Brohm play in Green Bay you'll understand why they cut him. No thanks.

I may have to re-evaluate my thinking on Brohm now.

I just thought of something: If Mike McCarthy doesn't think he could improve Brohm's play after one season and one preseason, there must be some serious issues with either his mechanics or his head.

Most teams (especially a QB friendly team like GB) don't dump a second round pick after one season.

I'd rather have John David Booty.

Hmm I don't think you give me any credit. I've watched all the Packers games on NFL Network. Brohm was a pretty high draft pick a year ago? Why would Green Bay already dump him? He looked pretty bad in the pre-season. People just want to sign him because he was good in college.

Please for the love of christ I had to suffer through 2 years of Booty in college...not again.

Exactly. Brohm looked lost and had no command of the huddle.

I was making a joke, because I was telling dane and mecca in the "Waiver Wire" thread that Brohm has looked like absolute garbage this preseason.

We agreed, which is why I said I have to re-evaluate.

We've been agreeing too much. Well I guess theres not much to disagree about this team sucks.

Tom Silverstein, of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel, reports free-agent QB Brian Brohm (Packers) has cleared waivers, but he is taking his time deciding which practice squad he plans to join. The Green Bay Packers are waiting to hear from him and are holding a spot open for him, but he is talking with other clubs, according to a league source.

3 min later he signed for GB

2:40 ET Packers QB Brian Brohm, signed to the practice squad today after clearing waviers, is still in the picture. "We haven't given up on him and I don't think he's given up either," GM Ted Thompson said about Brohm at a press conference this afternoon.

UPDATE: Howard Balzer of The Sports Xchange helpfully points out that Brohm will make more on the Packers practice squad than he would have elsewhere. Brohm also had a partial guarantee in his rookie contract that could have scared teams away.
