The Kansas City Chiefs (http://www.sbnation.com/nfl/teams/KAN) have inquired about (http://www.nydailynews.com/blogs/giants/2009/09/no-surprise-giants-say-good-by.html)recently released wide receiver David Tyree (http://www.sbnation.com/nfl/players/2261/David_Tyree) according to Ralph Vacciano of the NY Daily News. Tyree, of course, made the catch in the New York Giants (http://www.sbnation.com/nfl/teams/NYG) 2007 Super Bowl run.

(If you don't know what the catch is...you should since there's an entire Wiki page (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Eli_Manning_pass_to_David_Tyree) dedicated to it.)

The Chiefs have called Tyree's agent, Mark Clouser, to inquire about the former Giant. The Baltimore Ravens (http://www.sbnation.com/nfl/teams/BAL) have also expressed a "serious interest (http://twitter.com/RavensInsider/status/3782259750)" in Tyree according to Aaron Wilson of the Carroll County Times.

Tyree was a sixth round draft pick in the 2003 draft. He was actually voted to the Pro Bowl in 2005 as a special teams player.
My best guess as to why the Chiefs inquired about Tyree is special teams play. His career high for receptions is 19 and for yards is 211. Hardly impressive but, with a wide receiver corps the head coach isn't particularly proud of, he could add some depth.
The biggest (and perhaps only?) reason fans outside of New York have heard of Tyree is because of the catch. The following preseason, he injured his knee and missed the entire 2008 campaign after being placed on injured reserve.

The Giants released Tyree yesterday.

This wouldn't be the first former Giants wide receiver the Chiefs have expressed an interest in. Amani Toomer was with the team for three weeks during training camp.

Former Eastern defensive end Pierre Walters has survived the final cut Saturday, making the Kansas City Chiefs' final 53-man roster.

Walters - who the Chiefs converted to outside linebacker - is the first Eastern football player since current Dallas Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo to make an active NFL roster.

"I'm really, really happy for him," Eastern defensive coordinator Roc Bellantoni said. "He worked hard to get where he's at. I got to watch him grow up as a person and a player. If anybody deserves success it's him."

The 6-foot-4, 269-pounder out of Westchester St. Joseph's High School finished the 2008 season with 48 total tackles and a team-high 16.5 tackles for a loss.

Walters could be a good player he's a project but has great size. As for Tyree I heard Pioli pressed *67 called and flushed the toilet into the phone and laughed.
