"The Broncos completed a deal today for veteran defensive end Vonnie Holliday.

The 6-foot-5, 288-pound Holliday was a solid defensive tackle/end for the Green Bay Packers from 1998-2002 before moving on to Kansas City and the Miami Dolphins. He will be expected to play both the 5-technique defensive end and nose tackle positions in the Broncos' 3-4 defensive alignment ."

He played for you guys, what did you think of him? I see that he spent chunks of time injured when he was with KC. I'm wanting to know how effective you think he was on the field.

DE? Decent.
NT? Not so much.

Seemed a bit odd to me that he "will be expected to play...DE... and NT".

Rotational depth and situational pressure?

He'll be 34 this December.

They had traded for Lekevin Smith, but he had to get knee surgery, so they were short-staffed on the line. This solves that problem until Smith's return. They can look at Holliday after that.

True, I keep forgetting about Smith's meniscus tear. To be honest I keep forgetting about Smith.

He is 33. Dolphins fans were not happy to see him go. Vonnie is a solid starter as a 3-4 DE. Denver's front seven doesn't look like garbage anymore :)

He had a few good games back in the day, but then again, so did Eric Hicks.

Denver's shitty defensive line might be the only line the Chief's offensive line will be able to block this year.

I like our defensive line much more than yours. We actually have 2 capable nose tackles and 3 or 4 good DE's. Denvers defense will be one of the 16 best defenses in the league this year.

let me guess you are predicting Denver to have a winning record also?

Word of advice: just ignore him. It's really not worth it.

Won't matter much with their Offense rated 37th overall.

If we stay healthy and Brandon Marshall doesn't act like a punk, then yes.

Yeah because they are against the Cutler trade. Denver will surprise a lot of people this year.

Actually our D-Line beat the living fuck out of the CHI and AZ starting O-Lines for much of their games. Not like they are premier O-Lines but we did to them what a strong D-Line is expected to do. If you are counting on the Bronco D-Line to be shitty this year...you are a fool.

Vonnie Holliday had 3.5 sacks in 2008.

Just out of curiosity, where would that have ranked on the Chiefs' defense?

Shawn Barber can't be far behind. I think I'm really going to enjoy JMac's tenure as the donks' HC.
