Chiefs Depth Chart Released: Bowe, Tank on the First Team

http://cdn2.sbnation.com/profile_images/77308/TG_tiny.jpg by Joel Thorman (http://www.arrowheadpride.com/users/Joel%20Thorman) on Sep 7, 2009 11:57 AM CDT (http://www.arrowheadpride.com/2009/9/7/1019561/chiefs-depth-chart-released-bowe)

The Kansas City Chiefs (http://www.sbnation.com/nfl/teams/KAN) have released their newest depth chart

OFFENSE
Wide Receiver: Dwayne Bowe (http://www.sbnation.com/nfl/players/18956/Dwayne_Bowe), Terrance Copper (http://www.sbnation.com/nfl/players/2008/Terrance_Copper)
Finally! Dwayne Bowe's "demotion" is over. Chiefs fans, and fans of good players across the league, were shocked when Todd Haley sent him down to the third string with the first release of the depth chart over a month ago.
The fact that he's on the first string for the real games doesn't surprise anyone, nor should it. Bowe is far and away the best receiver on the team.
Left Tackle: Branden Albert (http://www.sbnation.com/nfl/players/34459/Branden_Albert), Ikechuku Ndukwe (http://www.sbnation.com/nfl/players/1414/Ikechuku_Ndukwe)
Herb Taylor (http://www.sbnation.com/nfl/players/18965/Herb_Taylor) was previously backing up Albert, who's firmly entrenched as the No. 1 left tackle, but he was released over the weekend. Ndukwe will be serving double duty as the No. 2 on the left and the No. 1 on the right side.
Left Guard: Brian Waters (http://www.sbnation.com/nfl/players/2409/Brian_Waters), Wade Smith (http://www.sbnation.com/nfl/players/1268/Wade_Smith)
No changes
Center: Rudy Niswanger (http://www.sbnation.com/nfl/players/2389/Rudy_Niswanger), Wade Smith
Again not much of a surprise. Andy Alleman (http://www.sbnation.com/nfl/players/19001/Andy_Alleman) was previously listed as the backup center but has been seeing all his time at guard.
Right Guard: Mike Goff, Andy Alleman
Things are starting to make a little more sense. Alleman was listed at center but had only seen time at guard. Hopefully Alleman gives Goff a run for his money.
Right Tackle: Ikechuku Ndukwe, Ryan O'Callaghan (http://www.sbnation.com/nfl/players/1694/Ryan_O)
One of the most interesting battles of camp. Both of these players weren't on the roster three weeks ago so this position is certainly up for grabs.
Tight End: Sean Ryan (http://www.sbnation.com/nfl/players/1265/Sean_Ryan), Brad Cottam (http://www.sbnation.com/nfl/players/34465/Brad_Cottam), Jake O'Connell (http://www.sbnation.com/nfl/players/71425/Jake_O)
No changes.
Wide Receiver: Mark Bradley (http://www.sbnation.com/nfl/players/3070/Mark_Bradley), Bobby Engram (http://www.sbnation.com/nfl/players/2298/Bobby_Engram), Quinten Lawrence (http://www.sbnation.com/nfl/players/71423/Quinten_Lawrence)
No changes.
Quarterback: Matt Cassel (http://www.sbnation.com/nfl/players/1659/Matt_Cassel), Brodie Croyle (http://www.sbnation.com/nfl/players/2361/Brodie_Croyle), Tyler Thigpen (http://www.sbnation.com/nfl/players/19416/Tyler_Thigpen), Matt Gutierrez (http://www.sbnation.com/nfl/players/18968/Matt_Gutierrez)

Fullback - Cox
Running Back: Larry Johnson (http://www.sbnation.com/nfl/players/2377/Larry_Johnson), Jackie Battle (http://www.sbnation.com/nfl/players/30956/Jackie_Battle), Jamaal Charles (http://www.sbnation.com/nfl/players/34464/Jamaal_Charles), Dantrell Savage (http://www.sbnation.com/nfl/players/34989/Dantrell_Savage)

DEFENSE

Left Defensive End: Tyson Jackson (http://www.sbnation.com/nfl/players/71422/Tyson_Jackson), Wallace Gilberry (http://www.sbnation.com/nfl/players/34822/Wallace_Gilberry)
Gilberry moved over from the right side following the departure of Alfonso Boone (http://www.sbnation.com/nfl/players/3069/Alfonso_Boone).
Nose Tackle: Tank Tyler (http://www.sbnation.com/nfl/players/18966/Tank_Tyler), Ron Edwards (http://www.sbnation.com/nfl/players/2363/Ron_Edwards)
Tank Tyler takes the No. 1 spot. They have rotated throughout camp.
Right Defensive End: Glenn Dorsey (http://www.sbnation.com/nfl/players/34469/Glenn_Dorsey), Wallace Gilberry, Alex Magee (http://www.sbnation.com/nfl/players/71424/Alex_Magee)

Left Outside Linebacker: Mike Vrabel (http://www.sbnation.com/nfl/players/1709/Mike_Vrabel), Andy Studebaker (http://www.sbnation.com/nfl/players/34438/Andy_Studebaker)

Left Inside Linebacker: Demorrio Williams (http://www.sbnation.com/nfl/players/1194/Demorrio_Williams), Monty Beisel (http://www.sbnation.com/nfl/players/1724/Monty_Beisel), Derrick Johnson
Right Inside Linebacker: Corey Mays (http://www.sbnation.com/nfl/players/1687/Corey_Mays), Jovan Belcher (http://www.sbnation.com/nfl/players/78011/Jovan_Belcher)
Right Outside Linebacker: Tamba Hali (http://www.sbnation.com/nfl/players/2371/Tamba_Hali), Turk McBride (http://www.sbnation.com/nfl/players/18960/Turk_McBride), Pierre Walters (http://www.sbnation.com/nfl/players/78019/Pierre_Walters)
Left Cornerback: Brandon Flowers (http://www.sbnation.com/nfl/players/34470/Brandon_Flowers), Donald Washington (http://www.sbnation.com/nfl/players/71427/Donald_Washington), Maurice Leggett (http://www.sbnation.com/nfl/players/34474/Maurice_Leggett)
Washington moves ahead of Leggett, which is more appropriate considering Washington played well last week and Leggett is a nickelback.
Right Cornerback: Brandon Carr (http://www.sbnation.com/nfl/players/34463/Brandon_Carr), Ricardo Colclough (http://www.sbnation.com/nfl/players/1589/Ricardo_Colclough)

Strong Safety: Mike Brown (http://www.sbnation.com/nfl/players/3073/Mike_Brown), DaJuan Morgan (http://www.sbnation.com/nfl/players/34479/DaJuan_Morgan)

Free Safety: Jon McGraw (http://www.sbnation.com/nfl/players/1486/Jon_McGraw), Jarrad Page (http://www.sbnation.com/nfl/players/2390/Jarrad_Page)

Guess Haley isn't done "motivating.". I give this depth chart all of a week before it's rewritten.

The thought of DeMorrio Williams taking on guards and fullbacks inside the tackles....inspires confidence.

I really don't care who we trot out there Sunday. Pioli has said it may not be the best players, but the right players. I'm ready to put the whole 6-26 CP/Herm/Gun thing behind us, and if these guys feel McGraw and Brown give us the best chance to do it, then I am fine with it.

There is some merit to this depth chart being a ruse for motivational purposes. At some point, he has to call the bluffs of players who think that this is just a short term thing to make them work harder in camp. Once it affects their PT in games that actually matter, then they might get the message.

We're going to get rolled like Poland in the Blitz, anyway, so if this gets DJ's head out of his ass, it's worth it.

But there's no reason why Jon McGraw should be starting for this, or any team.

haliolis really gonna love it when the right player gets burnt for a td every other play.

why is d johnson listed as the 3rd string ilb?

Because he is always out of position.

just trade these former starters already. If they don't like Derrick Johnson just get something in return for him instead of dicking around with this 3rd string shit. I could care less either way, I don't think he is that good and is one of the more overhyped players the fans make him out to be, so it's not a big deal to me if he isn't playing. Page on the other hand, just because McGraw hustles in practices doesn't mean he's going to fucking have a clue whats going in game. It's like a soldier who does awesome in training and then hides and crumbles in the battlefield when it becomes real.

He has fumbled in games and IIRC was fumbling in practices as well and Haley has been on his ass about it. Won't really surprise me if he is playing time goes down until he learns to hang onto the ball more. We have enough troubles without giving the ball away to other teams.

McGraw at safety isn't that bad. He'll make up for his lack of athleticism with intelligence, instincts, and hard work. I'd rather have an overachiever like McGraw than an underachiever like DJ.

DJ deserves to be 3rd string. He hasn't done jack shit all pre-season. He was invisible against ****ing BACKUPS.

I like Charles, but I like Battle at 2nd string, too. Battle runs hard. He runs like LJ used to run. I like the idea of hammering away at the defense with big RB's. We need to be more physical.
