A friend and I went on a road trip this past weekend.

Drove all night Friday to Knoxville, where we arrived at 4AM EST. Went to the home opener at Neyland Stadium on Saturday. My first college game outside of rinky dink MSU. Had a great time.

Drove to Chattanooga Saturday night. Went to Ruby Falls and the Tennessee Aquarium on Sunday morning. We were going to do the Incline Railway, but it was rainy and foggy, so we skipped it.

Sunday afternoon, we drove to Nashville. The hotel ran a shuttle downtown. We went to eat dinner at BB King's and roam around. The shuttle stopped running at 10:30, so we called it a night pretty early.

Yesterday, we drove to Memphis. Did a little shopping, and went out to Beale Street last night. Ate at Pig on Beale, then mosied over to Rum Boogie Cafe for a few drinks. Ended the night at Coyote Ugly where I took two body shots and accumulated (at last count) 45 mesquito bites on my legs.

Today, I'm home. I had a great time, but I will be thankful to sleep in my own bed tonight. Started an album of our journey in my profile. There might be pictures of me doing the body shots on there as soon as I get them from my friend. That is, if I decide to include them.

A retrospect Welcome to Tennessee!!. I was playing a gig in Chattanooga Saturday night-you probably drove past the exit, if you were coming from Knoxville on I-75.

We did come in that way. Stayed in the Hampton Inn off of I-24.

I really liked it. Definitely had a small town vibe, with some good restaurants.

So was it fat as a kitten, or did you just seal its fate by naming it Fat Cat?

I've only had her a little over a year. That was her name when I got her, and she definitely knows her name.

Luv ... can't tell from the pic, but is that really you? If so, very much so ... congrats on your weight loss!!! I'm really impressed!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Don't think you missed much at Graceland??? It's a tourist type place and expensive. Now, I've only been to his grave (no long after he died) and not taken the tour, my wife and friend did last spring. But, I don't think you missed much.

Ouch! Feel for you. Insects do bite in the South. One reason my son loves living in Denver.

Don't think you missed much at Graceland.

For rock n' roll buffs I recommend the Sun Studio tour. I enjoyed it a lot. Not a lot to it but it was well presented and everything is still exactly as it was. Musically speaking, it was a bit of a spiritual experience standing in the middle of that studio, seeing everything as it was, hearing the stories of Howlin' Wolf, Elvis, Jerry Lee Lewis, Johnny Cash, Roy Orbison, etc., while listening to their early music that helped get it all started.

As a big fan of Jerry Lee Lewis's particular brand of Roll & Rock, I was tickled by a cigar burn that he intentionally left on one of the piano keys as a calling card.

I love visiting Tennessee. I was there back in July to drive the Tail of the Dragon and the Cherohala Skyway en route to South Carolina. It was an absolute blast.

Missed you by a week. We went from Austin to Knoxville to pick up my son from Basic training. Didn't have much time for sightseeing but we did make time to do a basic tour at Mammoth Caves. Cool place, wish I could spend more time exploring!

2000 miles in 5 days (4 days of travel, one day there) takes a lot out of a person but I love road trips!

Love the area from Chat to Nash but it sucks when there is a wreck. It's never a fender bender, It is always somebody rolling there car over and blocking the interstate.
