ATTENDANCE: 69,169

That is what the stats say. Have to ask some of the people there what they think of that.

It was the sparces I have ever seen it for a home opener.

After the way they played-expect it to be a ghost town out there in december when it gets cold.

Cheaps tickets $10 on its way.

It seemed loud as hell on the radio.

When they showed the stands in the middle of the first half, it was pretty full with the exception of the ends in the upper deck. I'd say that there were at least 70k people there.

150th consecutive sell out going back to 1991 :doh!:according to the announcers

Chiefs are costing the local tv station a lot of $$

Get ready for a lot of Giants, Cowboys and Steelers fans coming to Arrowhead.

I was there. It was about 75% to 80% full. I thought it was a decent showing actually for a team that finished 2-14 last year

The TV stations wouldn't be paying for the tickets if it was costing them money.

First home opener I've not been to since 1992.

The Chiefs are one of the few NFL teams that still ask TV stations and sponsors to cover unsold tickets to avoid blackouts. The other teams believe if someone is not willing to buy a ticket then why have a third party buy it so you can watch it at home.

TV stations don't want to return ad money for spots already sold, and they love the ratings boost. Once or twice a TV station will help, but if you can't sellout the Home Opener and a game vs. your biggest rival the money from TV may stop.

had a good view....lower level was 95%, club level probably 50% spotty oon the sidelines, practically empty on endzones. Upper deck was 85% on sides and probably 25%-35% on ends.

I made it to two games last year and they were a LOT of empty seats. They said before the game the sell out streak goes back to 1991. They would have had to buy a lot of tickets last year to keep that streak alive and looks to be continuing this year.

TV and sponsors did help last year, but remember there were almost 30,000 more season tickets sold last year. The number of available tickets to sell were a lot less, so the bill was smaller.

Actual attendance was probably around 66,000.
Lots of empty seats in the upper corners today.

Whats funny is, everyone got their wish in the offseason when Carl was let go. A complete housecleaning.

We (all of us) supported Carl and Herm more than we support this new regime?? Doesnt make much sense to me?

The economy cant be helping much....

This.

I thought it was a good crowd. Not a 'peak of marty-ball' style crowd, but a pretty good one nontheless.

The lower bowl was filled to capacity, just absolutely stuffed. It was as loud as I've heard it there 5 years during that last Raiders drive.

Unfortunately, we got out hearts ripped out so I doubt you see it anywhere near that loud again this year. It sucks, too. During that drive I looked around and thought to myself "this could be it, this could be the re-birth of Arrowhead and Chiefs football..." I knew we wouldn't be a good team, but it looked like maybe the energy would come return.

Then they killed it.

Yea I felt the same way, arrowhead the past few years has been weak (for obvious reasons). But we were fired up, especially in that final drive.

Arrowhead won't be the same until we start winning again, simple as that. By the time we start winning again, the economy should be back to normal by then.

Nothing to do with this thread, but at the Mizzou game over the weekend a very significant portion of the crowd yelled "Chiefs" at the end of the national anthem. Was sitting next to St. Louis people and they were heard to say, "This isn't Kansas City jackasses."

long time, first time.

Someone made a comment about the tv station buying tickets. I was in Cincy for the Broncos season opener last week, and their local cbs affiliate in the contract of paul brown stadium must is required to buy the unsold tickets (which that week, was several thousand). However a couple of corporate sponsors stepped up like Krogger to lighten to blow.

So there's another example of the local tv station having to buy up tickets.
