View Full Version : Life Dating and Marriage: A Poll.

Two Hypotheticals:

Situation 1:

You're single and unattached. A married friend of yours calls you up and says, "Hey! I just set you up on a date with an attractive person of whichever gender you're attracted to!"

You put down your apple pie and say, "Great! I've been wanting a date. Can you give me four words to describe this person's personality?

Your friend offers four descriptors. Of the list in the poll to follow, which four would you most like to hear?

Situation 2:

You're single and unattached. You go on a business trip to Milwaukee, and while you're there you notice a fortuneteller's studio in the neighborhood. On a lark, you go in and pay 10 bucks for their three-for-one special - palm reading, crystal ball reading, and tarot card reading.

The fortuneteller astounds you by describing your favorite TV shows, home decor (including your fondness for gingham), your first dog, your traumatic eighth birthday party and the incident with the pinata, and your irrational fear of Proctor & Gamble products.

She says, "I'm now going to tell you the four words that best describe the personality of the person you're going to marry." From the forthcoming poll, which four words would you most like to hear?

I'd rip that fortune teller's spleen out as soon as he/she mentioned the word marriage to me.

Same four for both:

Genuine
Imaginative
Sophisticated
Witty

Were "Intelligent" or "Smart" were on the list, it would replace Imaginative. Really intelligent women tend to give me butterflies and boners, even if they are "average" looking.

It's not like "extreemly violent" or "smells like ass" are on the list. Anyone of the qualities listed could be attractive depending on the situation.
I dont get it. All of the above depending on my mood, I guess.

I'm not sure if Witty is as important to me as it used to be.

I think that as long as she laughs at my jokes, we'll be okay. If she makes her own then great but I'm not confident that it's a requirement.

I was looking for "nympho"

Molitoth
09-23-2009, 08:20 AM
I picked:

Independant - I don't like women who have to be babysat all of the time. Find a hobby, find a career, find something to frickin do!

Driven - Driven to succeed in her career. Help daddy bring home the bacon so my selfish ass can buy whatever I please.

Flirtatious - This is the closest thing I could find to "nympho".... I need my sex.

Fashionable - I'm not going out in public with a chick in purple sweatpants and a neon green wrinkled t-shirt. My wife shall be my trophy, and she shall look good.

I suppose I am an asshole.

I chose the same four for both... confident, genuine, spontaneous and witty. I figured your definition of "dating" did not include random hookups, one nighters, etc. That's not really dating to me and I guess I view long term dating leading to getting married... so you should probably target the type of woman you may marry. I dunno, but that strategy has worked well for 10 years I suppose. ;)

And, like most polls - several of the options were VERY similar to me.

Genuine and Down To Earth...
Quiet and Shy...
Confident and Driven...
Flirtatious, Happy Go Lucky and Mischevious...

I didn't read the scenarios before I voted:

First:

confident
genuine
independent
kind

Second:

confident
genuine ( because I see this as being trustworthy)
kind
thoughtful

I think kind and thoughtful are redundant....I would have preferred the option of smart ( not just books but common sense in life smart too)
This is very important to me.

I voted the same for both scenarios...

Confident, (but not to the point of being egocentric)
Genuine, (truthful / holds no secrets)
Spontaneous, (keeps me guessing)
Witty, (this is a definite!)

Top-heavy, sex-addicted, lacks a gag reflex.Hmm. Sex-addicted and lacking a gag reflex are good. I'd go for athletic over top-heavy, though. But if I go for sex-addicted, there has to be some kind of loyalty - I don't share - which I guess means lacking a gag-reflex would have to go. 'cause I'm certainly not getting rid of mute, athletic and/or sex-addicted.
