Eight left. It's interesting to me that only three of them are/were actual players.

Match 4 conspired to rob of us of a championship moreso than any of the others.

They were in it together.

I'd be torn against Carl and Elliott, that's for sure.

Though Carl brought him in and let go one of the best kickers in the league, so I guess I would have to put it on him.

That major choke job in the Indy game would have never occurred had Lowery still been in KC.

Jack Steadman left a far bigger black mark upon this franchise than Carl Peterson could even dream of. He's the ULTIMATE villain. Sadly, he's not going on to the next round.

Steadman is far, far worse than LE. LE ruined one game. Steadman ruined 18 years.

You HAVE to choose Steadman. It would be like if the Royals got a new owner, then became good(not great) for a while, then in 20 years they sucked again. Then somebody on future Chiefsplanet creates a poll for "Biggest Royals Villian," and they leave off David Glass, the man who caused two decades worth of pain and misery. It wouldn't be right. Vote Steadman.

True, but Lin Elliott tore the heart and soul out of an entire community. At least with Steadman, you knew what you were getting coming into the season.

I've seen only a few men tear the heart/soul out of a city like that.

Steve Bartman - Chicago
Billy Buckner - Boston
Scott Norwood - Buffalo/Upper state NY

Granted theres probably more, but this is just a few off the top of my head.

Vote Steadman.I don't get Chiefs fans. Half of our 40-year super bowl drought can be blamed on ONE figure, who didn't even SNIFF it. Steadman would have given anything to lose in a playoff game with a kicker who misses 4 field goals. That's how awful he is.

Maybe the people voting are too young to remember Steadman, or have put those years out of their mind already. But people who voted for the kicker really need to put in context exactly how much misery each figure has caused the franchise. Steadman takes the cake.

Frankly, I never blame a kicker because I'd never trust one. I blame Bono for that loss becuase he failed just as badly, but at a much more important position:

11 of 25, 44% completion rate, 122 yds, 1 TD and 3 Ints.

It's too bad the results of this poll is going to have a severe post-1990s bias.

Carl Peterson is a bum, but seven playoff appearances in a span of eight years ought to count for something. It doesn't seem right that Peterson is moving on, but Steadman is safe.

Steadman is the obvious choice. I don't even blame LE for blowing that game. Don't get me wrong, his kicking was the reason we lost, but it wasn't his fault he was still our kicker after the year he had. Hell, if the Texans or somebody called me tomorrow and wanted to pay me league minimum to miss extra points for a living, I'd say hell yes.

Herm fucking Edwards is by far, by very far, the worst thing that ever happened to the Kansas City Chiefs.

Many of the younger ones on here don't remember Steadman, that's the only real reason he won't win this whole thing in a landslide.

Kinda like the "Who do you hate more, the Raiders more or the Broncos?" discussion.

I disagree. With Steadman, you knew you were fielding a loser. LE crushed hopes on the edge of reaching for a chance at the ultimate football dream.

To put it in another perspective: Steadman is the parent who for years gave you clothes for Christmas as a kid, usually just underwear and pajamas. It sucked, but you knew it was gonna suck so it didn't hurt so bad even though the other kids got new bikes. LE, on the other hand, is the parent who keeps showing you X-box commercials leading up to Christmas saying, "Wouldn't it be cool to get an X-box for Christmas?" Then on Christmas morning there is that singular box under the tree. You just knew what was in it. You race over to the Christmas tree, rip off the paper--and there it is in all its glory, the box for an X-box. This is it--you know it, and you are about to bust at the seams. Your parent leans over with a smile on thier face and says, "Go ahead, open it...." You take a deep breath and open the end...and it is filled with socks and underwear. At that point your parent starts laughing at you and says, "Ha, ha, cry for the camera."

We made the playoffs with Herm. He isn't by any means the worst thing to happen to the Chiefs.

Never trust a kicker. We should have been scoring TDs on those drives rather than FGs.

Never trust a kicker. Stenerud is in the HOF, but if he hits a FG he normally would have normally made, we probably have 2 rings. Never trust a kicker. Ever.

Sometimes games are defensive games. Elliott missed 3 FG's, and only had to make one of them to not lose.

He's KC's Ray Finkel
