Andy Reid hints at a possible trade
(notice not a Chief mentioned)

Posted by Mike Florio on October 19, 2009 12:43 PM ET
With the 2009 trade deadline less than 28 hours away, the Eagles could be making a move.

Coach Andy Reid made that suggestion on Monday, during a press conference.

"We are keeping our eyes open." Reid said. "We are looking."

The folks at myfoxphilly.com think that the trade could be aimed at replacing linebacker Omar Gaither, who sprained a foot during the game in which the Raiders put a foot somewhere in the Eagles' collective anatomy.

The bait could be receiver Kevin Curtis, who per Jay Glazer of FOX is rumored to be on the block, thanks to the performance of rookie wideout Jeremy Maclin

The fact that other teams are so interested in DJ,Albert and Dorsey should tell us that they are talented players.

that is NOT "hinting at a possible trade". it's just a standard generic answer.

Agreed. I'd love to hear a GM or HC say, "We are keeping our eyes closed. We have no interest in upgrading."

I wouldn't. He's been hurt a lot lately. I'd take Reggie Brown though. He's young, talented and buried on that depth chart.

It's the same thing a coach would say in any situation.

But this Florio guy goes off and writes an "article" about it, and now people think it's news.

I wouldn't be surprised if there was not one trade in the NFL before the deadline.

Slightly offtopic but I read today that Steve Smith feels he is no longer an asset in Carolina. What could we give for him?

No, thanks. And hasn't he been hurt like all year...and not good enough to get on the field even if he wasn't?

Derrick Johnson-LB-Chiefs Oct. 19 - 5:14 pm et

NFL Network's Mike Lombardi reports that Chiefs LB Derrick Johnson would be available "for a mid-round pick" before Tuesday's trade deadline.
Johnson's best position is strong-side linebacker in a 4-3 system. Teams that would be a good fit include Chicago, St. Louis, Buffalo, Indianapolis and Oakland, but mid-round picks are still difficult for any club to surrender.

Come on Chicago....throw up that 3rd round pick!

If St. Louis, who is possibly one of 3 or 4 teams as starved for talent as us, trades a mid-round pick for Derrick Johnson, then they are really stupid.

I'm calling D.J. to the Rams.

St. Louis should be calling up the Browns and trading for Brady Quinn.

Slightly offtopic but I read today that Steve Smith feels he is no longer an asset in Carolina. What could we give for him? It'd be awesome if they traded him to NYG. Given his (lack of) production recently, would he be the "other" Steve Smith on the roster or would the other Steve Smith be the "other" Steve Smith?
