If this is the case.....color me finished as a Chiefs fan.

Getting rid of Bowe? Our best offensive weapon when we have little to no talent on offense? Did anyone learn anything from the Jared Allen trade? YOU DONT TRADE AWAY YOUR GOOD YOUNG PLAYERS and bank on the fact that you MIGHT hit on your draft pick you receive in return.

Getting rid of Dorsey when it seems he's finally starting to come around?!?!?!

Getting rid of Derrick Johnson is stupid too......though I can see why we would do it.

I'm sorry, but I think this is great if true.

Dorsey does not fit our needs at all, as he is not a 3-4 lineman, and Bowe is inconsistant as a WR. Give us a few high end picks that will let Piolli and Haley get their guys in here, and away we go.

According to a Twitter report from WQAM Radio host Steve Goldstein, who is also the play-by-play man for the NHL’s Florida Panthers, the Miami Dolphins could be on the verge of adding another Kansas City Chief to their roster.

Per the rumor, the Chiefs want two draft picks and possibly a player from the Dolphins in exchange for wide receiver Dwayne Bowe. One of those picks, per Goldstein, would be a 2010 second-round pick. He’s claiming the Chiefs say that’s the minimum they’d accept as part of any trade involving Bowe.

There are also other internet rumblings indicating the Baltimore Ravens could be in the mix for Bowe, who has fallen out of favor with head coach Todd Haley. That’s not a surprise considering the entire organization seems intent on releasing or trading most of the players who were part of the Carl Peterson era.

The doghouse has been a constant location for Bowe since Haley arrived in Kansas City. They’ve had a tumultuous relationship since off-season workouts began in March. Haley didn’t like Bowe’s “Show” mentality, and it’s steadily gone downhill ever since.

The Chiefs and Dolphins have already been busy this offseason. On August 24 they worked out a deal that included an undisclosed 2010 draft pick (reportedly a sixth rounder) in exchange for offensive linemen Andy Alleman and Ike Ndukwe. On September 30, quarterback Tyler Thigpen was shipped to Miami in exchange for a 2010 fifth-round selection.

The Chiefs are hoping to cash in during the next 24 hours so they can obtain as many 2010 draft picks as possible, and Bowe might not be the only player traded. Monday night, Kansas City dealt defensive tackle Tank Tyler to the Carolina Panthers. The Chiefs are also hoping to move linebacker Derrick Johnson. Warpaint Illustrated has learned that the Chicago Bears, Philadelphia Eagles and Detroit Lions have all made inquiries regarding Johnson.

Like Bowe, Johnson is in the doghouse and receiving only scraps of playing time. He’s in the final year of his rookie contract and likely would welcome any change in order to salvage his career. He played more snaps Sunday against the Redskins than he had in recent weeks, so it’s possible the Chiefs were showcasing him before Tuedsay’s trade deadline.

Other players that could be moved include defensive end Glenn Dorsey (we hear the Atlanta Falcons are interested), running back Larry Johnson, safety Jarrad Page and backup quarterback Brodie Croyle.

The Chiefs, according to Jay Glazer of Fox Sports.com, are willing to trade anyone on their roster with the exception of starting quarterback Matt Cassel.

Stay tuned to Warpaint Illustrated for the latest trade news involving the Kansas City Chiefs.
He's so sub-par that his DVOA despite our shitty offense is 23.3% ... putting him at #12 at WR in value per play through week 5 of this season. A full 30% swing from where he finished last year at DVOA. He's a real bum and totally not taking to Haley's coaching and not improving at all.

There is a point when cleaning house is a great thing sometimes, especially given our past regime of Carl and Herm BUT I highly doubt during the middle part of the season is the right time. The time is right for Dorsey cause god knows if he'll play better than he's playing right now, Johnson seems to be a person who doesnt care about his role on this team anymore so I can see that, but Dwayne Bowe would just tell me that we aren't even fishing for one more win this year, and that Todd Haley's job isn't in question at the end of the season regardless of the final record.

At this point, I'd love to see EVERY single player named in this article traded in the next two hours. This team has been terrible for 3, going on 4 years. BLOW IT UP! We hired Pioli to cook a meal. We should give him the groceries he wants. We're terrible on offense. We're terrible on defense. The offensive line is terrible. Load up on draft picks and get a young O-line. The entire team, offense and defense, relys on a great O-line. THAT's where rebuilding needs to begin.

do i need to remind you of the names of jared allen, or carlos beltran? even when rebuilding you don't trade your young talented players. you just don't. when you do it sets you back even further, cause your left with a crapshoot in the draft.

I would agree with this sentiment, except who on the team is actually of Jared Allen caliber.

And even then, by time this team actually sees the payoff of this, Allen will be on the downside of his career.

Expect Quinn, T.O. to stay put

By John Clayton

General managers and coaches spent Monday reviewing ideas and making phone calls. As everyone saw Friday night when Adams went to the Chicago Bears for a second-round pick in 2010, a deal can come together quickly. The Tampa Bay Buccaneers spent a good portion of last week trying to get draft choices for current players, and Adams was their most recognizable name.

What are the chances for something to get done?

Teams such as the Cleveland Browns, Oakland Raiders, Bucs and Kansas City Chiefs would love to get future value for some of their players. The Chiefs got a fifth-round pick from the Carolina Panthers for defensive tackle Tank Tyler on Monday.

It would take a lot get a Glenn Dorsey out of Kansas City. Plus, the Chiefs are trying to build a 3-4 defensive line, not break it up. Coach Eric Mangini has gone on record as saying the Browns aren't going to trade Brady Quinn or Josh Cribbs. Of the two, Cribbs would draw the most interest because numerous teams would love a versatile playmaker, but Mangini has liked Cribbs since the coach came to Cleveland.

Wide receiver is one of the most cherished positions for teams in search of trade help. The New England Patriots could use a third receiver behind Randy Moss and Wes Welker. Joey Galloway was released Tuesday, and the Patriots are using special-teamer Sam Aiken and seventh-round pick Julian Edelman as their third and fourth receivers.

The Baltimore Ravens would like to upgrade their receiving corps, but don't expect the Chiefs to give up on Dwayne Bowe with his productivity getting better every week. It wouldn't be surprising if the Redskins shop around for another receiver. The Bears might look for a receiver, but they have already given up enough draft choices in the Jay Cutler and Adams trades.

Don't expect anything to happen with Terrell Owens. Owens might be a difference-maker, but he hasn't changed the fortunes of the Buffalo Bills' offense. To acquire Owens, a team must accept the potential problems he might cause for the quarterback and the locker room. Although teams are willing to make gambles like that, the bigger problem is that Owens would have to learn a new offense overnight, further minimizing his value.

The Atlanta Falcons, New York Jets and San Diego Chargers would love to acquire a run-stopping defensive tackle, but there aren't enough available. Each team has suffered a season-ending injury at defensive tackle, but finding replacements this late is impossible. Most teams want to hold on to defensive tackles because they are too hard to find.

Because most teams have excess running backs, there is virtually no value in dealing a back. At best, a good back could net a fourth-round pick, but the likelier scenario is a sixth-rounder. In most cases, it makes better sense to keep a back than trade him.

I wouldn't mind Meier. Nice hands, runs good routes, takes a beating and still hangs onto the ball/doesn't go Johnny Morton/Bowe and alligator arm it. Fills the third QB spot as well as the possession receiver position. I wouldn't mind a guy like that one bit with a 6th or 7th round pick. Oh...sorry. We don't have one of those. Yeah, I was just tossing out the first Big 12 WR I could think of in response to the ‘who will we draft in the 2nd round to replace Bowe”.

Being sarcastic of course.
:D

You don't have to be sarcastic. I'd like to see the Chiefs with another couple of 2nd rounders for this next draft. There is some really nice o-line guys, LB's, WR's that will be there in the second.

Shit. Another second rounder could give us a guy like:

S: Darrell Stuckey

WR: Arrellious Benn, Eric Decker, Jordan Shipley, Mike Williams

OLB: AJ Edds, Eric Norwood, George Selvie, Brandon Lang, Ricky Sapp, Von Miller

OT: Zane Beadles, Ciron Black, Jason Fox, Sam Young

TE Jermaine Gresham, Dennis Pitta, Ed Dickson

C Matt Tenant, Kris O'Dowd

DT Terrance Cody

G Mike Johnson, Mike Iupati

RB Jon Dwyer, Evan Royster

ILB Rolando McCain, Sean Lee, Joe Pawelek, Brandon Spikes

There is going to be a shit ton of talent at a lot of positions available in the 2nd round.

I agree.

Galloway wasn't a trade - he's a FA tryout. Only reported trade as of now was for Tyler yesterday.

Announcements could still be forthcoming, but I wouldn't be surprised if nothing happened with KC...

We won't take it with a top 7 pick... I can see them moving down or moving up to the late first round to get their nt....

Let's say we drop from 5 to 8 - we still get a S and we get an additional 3rd or 4th that we use to get our early 2nd to become a late first...

Is this Herm?

Looks like Glazer was right, everyone on the roster was probably available, but guys like Bowe and Dorsey weren't going to be available for nothing. Pioli would have had to have his socks blown off by an offer, and it sounds like that didn't happen.

Of course, if they don't continue to show improvement the rest of the year, they could easily be shipped in the offseason...

Mays is slightly over-hyped, IMO. His physical skills are amazing, but he doesn't show an instinctive inclination to the level of guys like Stuckey, Berry, Johnson and the like.

I think he's Bernard Pollard with more speed. And there's nothing wrong with that, but not top ten pick worthy.

Thats funny coming from a guy who wants to draft a tackle from a spread offense.

As I said, with the Chiefs running a semi-spread anyway, and it being adopted more and more throughout the NFL, I don't see a problem with Okung as the Chiefs first round choice. Besides, he's been a starting LT for three seasons now, and has gone against quality rush ends consistently during his college career. He has excellent footwork and plays hard all game long. I'd rather have Okung at LT, which allows Albert to slide over to LG (a position that I think he could be absolutely dominant at for the next decade), and draft a player like Stuckey in the second than just have Berry in the first. (And as I stated, I don't think that Mays has shown enough instinct on the ball and quality tackling to be considered anything other than a faster Bernard Pollard at this point. And like I said, that's not a bad thing, just not a top ten player in my opinion.)

Saccopoo
10-20-2009, 05:05 PM
And if you wanted a big free safety, you could always look at someone like Kam Chancellor of Virginia Tech in the 3/4 round, or if you wanted a ball hawk, someone like Robert Johnson of Utah in the later rounds would be a nice pick. I just don't see where Mays justifies a top ten pick other than his physical attributes. Kind of like Dunlap at Florida. He's a complete and utter physical freak, but his play on the field isn't to the same level as what his athleticism would suggest - just like Mays.

DeezNutz
10-20-2009, 08:07 PM

We're going to be in the same position as last year. Top 5 for sure, probably top 3.

No one will want the pick.
