I think with the power and reach of these social media outlets... that this type of function would be beneficial.

It would help new members find the site... and publish information to those who view other channels.

For instance... I like what this thread has to say about the APIs that are available.

You can have http://twitter.com/chiefsplanet which doesnt currently exist... and have the api send out a tweet... every time a new thread on the lounge gets says 25-50 posts... followers would be alerted with a tweet and they would come back to this site and read the thread...

We could also login to the site via our Facebook account and share interesting tidbits.

Does anyone else see value in this?

No both Facebook and Twitter are totally retarded in my mind. I come here when I have time not when summoned.

well, that is because you are old and out of touch with innovation, Dave. :-P

yeah, most of the current members wouldn't use it... but Chiefsplanet is a 9 year old brand... and it makes sense to integrate with those other technologies... especially twitter... or a Facebook fan page.

At least register the username... so some spammer / other teams fan doesn't.

you must protect your brand, regardless.

I think the ability to share a post on facebook or twitter through integration with the platforms would be pretty cool. I find a lot of stuff here on the Planet that I end up sharing into my FB or twitter stream.

No way. I have FB friends who would not understand what goes on here...

It would make it easier for LJ to insult more people with one post.

facebook is real life. I don't know why you would want to invite everyone on some message board into your real life.

facebook and twitter sucks. seriously. get out of your cubicle, office, whatever, and actually verbally speak to one another face to face.

If it gets Holly Starr to post on here, I'm all for it.

I agree on the "real life" issue, but sharing a link to CP with your facebook or twitter community doesn't in mean you are sharing your real life with CP people.

And honestly, it's not a question of what the group wants. It's what is Kyle willing to do. He's certainly not going to mandate that people only be allowed to login to CP using a facebook or twitter login.

Debating this would be like debating whether Kyle should have included AIM integration or similar features that are available but not required.

IMO, the absolute BEST thing to do, would be to integrate automation of the top forum threads to a twitter account... there is a VB plugin for that already.

@chiefsplanet that would be awesome.

Hell, I would even offer to admin the account.

I agree. My comment was from the "who would want to use that?" standpoint.

If you want to integrate, since you already house PatriotsPlanet's BBs on your server, and Pioli seems intent on turning the Chiefs into Patriots West... Patriefs Planet? Cheatriots Planet? No, wait, that one would have a different meaning, LOL...

as long as that integration is optional and we can turn it off, i don't care.

Ari Chi3fs

it would of course, be optional... I don't even think Facebook is that big of a deal for CP integration.

CP sending out new threads via Twitter would rock, though. I'd retweet all kinds of hilarity to my 50k followers.

Not sure what all you're in the mood to mess with, but there are a couple plugins on vb.org for this type of stuff.

On a related note, I heard that YouTube, Twitter, and Facebook were going to merge.

They're going to call it You Twit Face.

I have a few CP members as Facebook friends, but generally I prefer to keep CP and Facebook separate. I don't need some douchebag Donx fan or politi-troll harrassing my high school friends just because I pissed them off. I have no interest in participating in any sort of link between the two.

Not sure I see the value in meshing CP with those services. You can subscribe to threads and be alerted to something, right?

I think sometimes you can be 'over' connected to people and the Internet...

I have a few CP'ers on my Facebook also. I'd have more, but a lot of my ex flings are on there and I don't need some of the cyber-studs on here critiquing them.

Agreed... as long as personal information like names or email addresses never leave here without specific approval
