View Full Version : Chiefs The birth of an era?

Heres to hoping the "JC" era is as exciting as the Priest era was, maybe we will be blessed once again! I hope he gets every opertunity to show his skills more than just 10 carries per game max!

With Haley working on his routes and ball security, along with lifting alot of weights, he can be a huge weapon for us if used properly.

Remember the stretch LJ satt last year? It was our best stretch of games I think. Heres to that returning!

I think we're moving away from the "era" of 1 running back. It's a lot cheaper to have a carousel of RB's who share the load of carries...plus you don't get gassed at the end of a game.

IF he can hold on to the ball. Tiki Barber conquered it, I guess he should be able to conquer it also.

Maybe if they added some weight to him in the offseason it would help.

Charles can't carry the rock 25 times a game.

He could carry it 15 times, and we could find someone in the middle rounds or on the free agent wire in the offseason who can carry the other 10.

I think teams would do better with one speed back and one power back anymore, instead of one guy who does all the work himself.

We went 2-14 last year. I don't think ANY stretch of games was our best.

I am more optimistic about Smith than Charles, as far as a big workload. I'd feel even better if we draft Jonathan Dwyer from GT when he comes out. One thing is for sure...LJ is done. It's bad when I am saying that.

And he won't hurt his vagina by running 416 times in one year!rofl.

I think Kolby Smith has what it takes to split the carries with him. I'm not sure we need anyone at RB.

I fully expect Kolby Smith to be activated and start after the bye week.

He'll be the "workhorse", getting the majority of first and second down snaps.

You gotta love blanket statements like this one.

It ranks right up there with "Rich Gannon is the backup quarterback for a REASON".

I don't know why Kolby and Charles can't become the next great tandom of backs.Well if we can get a o line in place that will make a whole bigger than a helmet for them to run through that is....

Well, that might work for 2 weeks, but what are going to do when he gets injured in the pre game warm of the third game?

BossChief

Maybe if they added some weight to him in the offseason it would help.

heres the key. JC ran track at Texas and therefore didnt lift weights like a normal football player does, that takes from a track runners flexibility and therefore speed. He has only really had two offsesons of weight lifting and there were reports he put on 8 pounds of muscle in the offseason.

I can see him being a 20 touches/game back for the rest of this year (not like we will be able to run the ball 30-35 times per game anyway causing him to take 20-25 carries consistently) and maybe giving us some reasons to be optimistic about his future here.

He was getting split wide last game and (if it werent for Cassels poor pass) should have scored on a long reception. I think he can be deadly on some swing passes and screens, not to mention his ability to block and be a good rac option on dumpoffs when the pressure is closing in on Cassel.

When defenses have a safety and a corner on one side of the field to cover Bowe up and we put Charles in motion to that side, we should have some interesting options for long gains. He is the only real deep threat we have, and should be used more.

09 15-20/game
10 17-22/game
11 sky is the limit.

He only got better once they formed.

I'm happy with our HB situation.

With all the line, WR, S, and d line problems we have I'm fine with our backfield as is...

I think it's hard to know whether Charles, Smith, or Savage has what it takes until we get at least a minimally competent line in front of them. The line did protect Cassel pretty well today though so maybe some of them are improving.

Get back to me when he runs for decent yardage consistently. I'm not saying he doesn't have what it takes, but it's gonna take more than one 100 yard game to convince me.

As far as I know, he's not a bruiser.

He's 5'10, 223 and probably needs to lose a few to gain some "wiggle".

Definitely not a fullback.

Before everyone goes annointing Charles the Chiefs' next great RB, let's remember this was one game versus the Raiders.

Sadly, I have to agree with the overall thought of this post.

The Raiders do have a pretty decent defense, but that fact notwithstanding, we do need to see more from Charles than this single game.
