I bet he sits with Al in the owners box.

Surprised it took this long.

Did Al have a stroke or something? How did he let this happen?

Maybe they will trade him off after the season.

Interesting to see what they can get out of him.

I don't think they could get a bag of footballs for him with that contract and his 47.9 rating

If next year ends up being an uncapped year, they might just cut him though (no cap hit if there's no cap)

I never understood how Russell was a #1 pick. Not that I watch a lot of college ball, but I never saw anything special about him. Was it just because he was big and could throw the ball far?

Al Davis loves the vertical game and dude can throw it 70 yards sitting in a chair. He might not have even gone in the top 15 if the Raiders don't take him.

What he failed to realize is that's only good if he throws to someone to where they can catch it.

I never thought of that or have heard much talk about it.

If that's true and there is no cap hit to cutting players it could be an interesting offseason with players getting dumped left and right.

Probably not many decent players going to get dumped for money reasons though since there wont be a cap to exceed causing it.

What a combination, huh? QB's who can't hit receivers who can't catch.

He has an incredible arm. He's also lazy and stupid, which should have been easily detected while scouting him, if they even bothered.

Like I said, I don't follow college ball much, but he just looked to me like he had bust written all over him. I don't recall the guy ever resembling an NFL QB.

Maybe he could convert to tight end. A big, fat, lazy tight end.

Don't remember who. Maybe it was one of our resident Raider fans but someone called this right on the money. That is saying that Russell would be benched by week 9 or 10. :D

I also love the fact just because you are big and fat you aren't strong you present a bigger target when the raiders tried to sneak it I knew he was going to fumble trying to get his fat ass low.

If that's actually true, he should have been benched right then and there

Russell is lazy. He got paid, now he doesn't like to do the work. This could wake him up and he may finally put in the work next year.

He also has never had to deal with as much losing as he has done since joining the Raiders. So, he may just be fed up and trying to work his way out of Oakland.

That's what I was just thinking. We're all calling him a bust and he's got more money than all of us combined.

Maybe he's actually pretty smart .

They're better off without Russell. Now if they'd kept Garcia as their backup, they'd have a real chance to really win a few.

Pretty much, I never bought into the hype when he played. Al likes to spread the field, and the guy has a cannon rocket arm, he can throw the ball a good 70 yards.
