So I have ripped some movies to my hard drive as .VOB files, and I'm also using MyMovies in conjunction with Windows 7 Media Center. I have my XBOX set up as an extender. Everything is in place to watch movies on my XBOX through Media Center, except the XBOX won't accept .vob files. Anybody do this, and what would you suggest? I assume I'll need to rip in a different format (I'm using free DVDFab to rip currently), such as avi or mpeg4, but I haven't found anything online that clearly describes the best process. Help?

I think .avi files work.

TVersity does a better job at streaming.

A lengthy guide, but it should do the trick.

I purchased PlayOn already, so I doubt I'd go with TVersity. I like the Media Center interface, and with the addition of MyMovies as a collection management tool, I'm pretty well sold on going with Media Center.

Handbrake is taking forever. My pc is a bit older I suppose, but wow. It takes 20 minutes to rip a movie, but this encoding in Handbrake is taking a couple of hours and I'm still only at 75%. Oh well, if it works I'll deal with it.

Encoding movies with a good high compression codec like divx/xvid will always take time. It's kind of funny since I think for most people these days you can actually download a movie faster than you can rip and encode it.
