I heard a rumor that Sprint is going to hire about 10,000 people just so they can have some people left to lay off.

Of course, by "I heard a rumor", I mean "I started a rumor".

If Sprint does indeed layoff 7k more it would put them at around 13-15k employees. Again, this is just what I have heard, nothing official yet. I can't see how they can stand to layoff that many more but the fact is VErizon and AT&T are both laying off by the 1,000's and they themselves are actually adding customers. Sprint is set to report a net loss of 930k customers for 2009. Sprint is going to be left with Boost\Virgin pre-paid and some business accounts. They are losing contract based customers by the millions.

I knew it would happen the second they paid to have their name on the downtown arena. It is the kiss of death. It seems the first company to put their name on a stadium or arena goes out of business not far after.

that net loss of 930k isn't just for 2009, it's for the 4th quarter of 2009.

link? i hadnt heard that. i feel they are going to bounce back in a major way with wimax 4g. they have some great devices coming up and possible deal with walmarts where they would install towers on top of the walmarts spreading out 4g service. if this happens i think they can turn it around.

Sprint is toast. Their managment is terrible. Phish and I both know this from experience. Once Verizon goes public with the I-Phone Sprint can hang it up. ROFL And trust me, the 930k number comes from a very credible source.

Those count as jobs saved.

They gambled and lost big time on tech bets. They merged with a company that used totally different technology and expected it to work smoothly. They rewarded sharks that performed in their departments. Doesn't matter if it was good for the other departments or Sprint as a whole.

It's really sad and bad for my field in KC. It didn't have to happen.

this may not seem like valid info, but this guy has ALWAYS been correct. heck, he even told everyone when the layoffs would be that claimed my job.
